Welcome to the 2014 season

Greetings from your long-lost Fantasy Football Librarian. I'm starting to hear from you regular readers that have been coming to FFL for years who are making sure that I'm alive and well, and I realized that I need to update you all on my plans for the season. Turns out having 2 kids and a job is kind of a time and energy suck - as many of you know - and I have been thinking a lot about how much of a commitment I can make to you all in terms of the regularity of my posts. Truth is, I have no clue. I debated whether or not to shut this site down for the season but I love football and I love being a resource for you guys. So I'm going to make an attempt for the 2014 season...but I warn you, this may be even more sporadic than in the past. I will do my best though!

Oh and those 2 energy- and time-sucking kiddos? They're awesome. Right now our oldest is almost exclusively wearing football jerseys to preschool (lots of laundry is going on in our house to make that happen) and our youngest has just figured out how to climb up our stairs.  I know some of you have been here on this blog since long before my days as a mom - can you all believe that they're turning 4 and 1 soon? I've been blessed with just a remarkable family.

Enough on my boys, here are a few resources to whet your palate for 2014. More to come. Soon.
  • Once again you're not going to want to miss FantasyPro's Draft Wizard - I think the auction league calculator is one of my favorite tools on here but you've got plenty of extremely helpful tools (mock drafts, cheat sheet creators, etc). It just gets better every year.
  • Or scope out NFL.com's Draft Kit with mocks, sleepers, bargains, all that good stuff.
  • Many of you are trying to settle on a draft date/time right now for your league - give the FF Nerd's Draft Date Picker a try if you need a hand with things. It should make your life much easier, I promise.
  • Rotoworld has a Favorite Fliers article which focuses on guys with an ADP of 115 or higher. Or try out SI's list of 20 2014 Fantasy Football Sleepers.
  • RotoViz has their Composite Wide Receiver Rankings (August Edition) up for your review, filled with commentary from their rankers.
  • IDP information:
  • I always enjoy reading CBSSports.com's Draft Prep series where they give strategies and player suggestions based on each draft position - they start off with Picking no.1 overall and Picking no. 2 overall (videos start immediately).
  • 4for4.com gets us thinking about the streaming strategy (plugging in a player off the waiver wire each week) with their QBBWW thoughts - Streaming Quarterbacks: Week 1 Targets.

Welcome back and thank you.I would have dreaded the season without you. I have told many people (those not in my league of course) about you and have been thanked over and over.
Glad to hear the kids and all are well. Keep the updates coming on both.

Whew! 9 days til my draft and after searching your site over and over for new info(yes, I'm desperate)and finding nothing, I thought I'd have to listen to another Matthew Berry podcast! No need to ever have to labor through one of those things again. Welcome back FFL!

I am so glad you are back. My dynasty league prep has been much more difficult without you this summer. I totally understand about the kids. (mine are 10 and 12) Wait until you have to be in two places at once. Very hard when both kids have a practice/game/recital/play/etc at the same time in very different locations. But parenthood is totally worth it.

Yay Sara, so glad to see you are doing well. I would check your site from time to time hoping to see updates, if not about football, then at least about how you and yours are coming along. There is something special about sports that bonds people and I am glad to hear that you'll be back and the fam is keeping you entertained and busy! Thank you again for being the best FF reference on the web.
Best,
Brooklyn

I have an idea Sara, why not invite a few of us to send you articles and links to make your job easier each week. If you provide us with a simple template I'm sure we could mimic your style. Maybe even make a google form so we can deliver it to you ready to go in one place. We'd love to help you succeed and help you help us.

Glad to see you are back! Do you know if there is plans for a 2014 Fantasy Football Accuracy Contest in conjunction with the FSTA? We sure hope you are!

Keep up the good work!

Looking for Fantasy Football league rankings nationwide? You need to check out StatChat website, its a pretty cool site and concept for sure! Ive never seen anything like it but a great idea if you have players around the country that you compete with, you stay in your host league site but this officially ranks leagues across the board. Definitely worth checking out for all of you Fantasy Heads!

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this...

2010 Week 2 consensus start/sit

Greetings and happy weekend. I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. So while these aren't my personal recommendations, I do think knowing what the consensus is could be of help when making lineup decisions...so enjoy! Note: the players are listed in no particular order. QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha...
