2010 Week 17 start/sit links

Greetings, friends. Happy almost New Year's Eve and happy college bowl season. I can only assume you'll all be pulling for my Northwestern Wildcats when they play in some random bowl on Saturday. To be honest, I'm not particularly excited about their chances since their QB (who is basically 90% of their offense) was injured for the rest of the season back in November. We survived our holiday travels and made it back to Brooklyn last night all in one piece. While we probably didn't endear ourselves to all of our fellow travelers thanks to some occasional meltdowns from our little dude, it certainly wasn't as bad as it could have been. And hey, we missed the chaos surrounding the major blizzard here in NYC while we were gone, so that's something to be grateful for! A reminder that there's a FFLibrarian Playoff Challenge again this year - basically it's a fresh slate to prove your fantasy wisdom. I'm working on a prize for the winner this year so s

Week 17 linkage

Greetings fantasy footballers. It seems particularly awesome to me that our fantasy football season has just been extended for another day - who doesn't want yet another night when we can watch the NFL, right? I love that it's a fairly solid game, too, that might make a big difference for a bunch of championships. Good luck to you all! Unfortunately for me I already know that I have lost the championship game...to my husband of all people. I will not be living this one down for a long, long time I'm sure. I have Jamaal Charles' multiple touchdowns to thank for my fantasy demise this week. Before I get to Week 17 links (since I know there are plenty of you rockin it for Week 17), I wanted to remind you all that I do a fantasy playoffs league of sorts every year. All readers are invited to play in the FFLibrarian Playoff Challenge group that I usually run through NFL.com's Playoff Challenge - here's a link to the FFLibrarian group and if you have trouble joinin

Week 16 Consensus Start/Sit List

We survived our first flight with our little dude flying from my family down to my husband's family - it helped that the flight was only about 1.5 hours long and bless the kind people in front of us who told us that we all did very well. Clearly they blocked out the many cries coming from our tiny man. But now we're waiting for the rest of the family to arrive so I've got some time to get your consensus start/sit list up for you. For those celebrating Christmas today, hope it has been a merry one! QB Start: David Garrard, Tim Tebow (even as a Denver fan it pains me to type that a bit...not sure I'd trust Tebow this week) Sit: Eli Manning, Mark Sanchez, Ben Roethlisberger RB Start: LeGarrette Blount, BJGE, Ryan Torain, Ronnie Brown, Marshawn Lynch Sit: LT, Brandon Jacobs, Peyton Hillis WR Start: Vincent Jackson, Kenny Britt, Mike Williams Sit: Chad Ochocinco, Johnny Knox, Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes TE Start: Kevin Boss, Owen Daniels, Rob Gronkowski Sit:

Holiday happenings in fantasyland

Hmm, I knew the holidays would be crazy since they always are - trying to juggle various factions of my family, trying to see my friends, and the added bonus of tending to our little dude has made things a bit challenging around here. Thanks for bearing with me during my quiet week here; championship time is no time for me to go dark! Let's get to today's links - lots of start and sit advice with a dash of rankings. If you're still hanging around, congrats! That means you at least have a fighting chance to win your league and you might even just be fine-tuning your dominant, masterful, A+ team that you developed over the course of reading all these helpful articles. Before we get to even more awesome links I just wanted to give you all a heads up that my postings this week will be sporadic at best since we're heading home to see family for the holidays tomorrow. I'll be sure to get some start/sit links up by the end of the week and will of course do my best to get that consensus list up. Friday's start/sit links for Week 15

Hope you have all made it through the last work day of the week and are ready for the weekend! I for one am ready to get a little more Christmas shopping done (I'm all about online shopping for the convenience these days, baby) and plan to hunker down on Sunday for game day since it looks to be a bit snowy here in NYC. I've got the usual start/sit links for you today - I'll be back tomorrow with the consensus start/sit list. Enjoy! Webb trickeration and other Week 15 tips

One of the reasons I absolutely love doing this blog is the fact that you all send some of the more interesting and helpful e-mails with your own tips about websites or players. Yesterday I heard from a reader that very wisely pointed out that Joe Webb (Vikings QB) could be a very tricky and clever play for those of you in need of a WR - if he's healthy and starts at QB this week. Yup, you read that right. If you're in a Yahoo league, Webb is eligible at both the QB and WR spots and while he won't put up a tremendous stat line for a QB, he might well be able to top your WR3's numbers and is someone to consider this week if you're in a tight spot. Gotta pull out all the stops when you're in a playoff battle! Other advice for Week 15 as follows... Waivers with a bit of dynasty tossed in

Well it's the time of year when fantasy articles start to thin out - and really if you're still here and reading this blog, then please give yourself a pat on the back. Job well done, you're still in it to win it. Or you're here for dynasty info, I have a small dose of advice on that front. So let's get right to it... Advice to get Week 15 prep going

Oh the Broncos are dismal; the weather here is rather dismal; I dismally went to the dentist today and learned a filling needs to be redone; and my cat is dismally on his way to the vet to get a spot on his leg checked out that he's been chewing at like crazy (probably his protest for having an infant in the house, stealing his snuggle time). So things are mildly dismal in the FFLibrarian world except for the fact that we magically have two MNF games tonight...and that infant, oh he slept for over 8 hours one night this weekend. Solid. My return to sanity and normalcy is in sight, my friends. Enjoy the double MNF night and I hope you all are looking at great numbers from your first weekend of the playoffs (despite Aaron Rodgers of course). Hope this links help! Week 14 rankings, start/sit, etc

Big times in the FFLibrarian household tonight - my husband is a Colts fan so tonight's Thursday Night Football game, which really the Colts must, must, must win, is going to be the focus of our evening here. As if a TNF game ever is not the focus of my Thursday evenings! But here's to a big night full of fantasy points whether you're already in the playoffs or fighting for your playoffs spot. Some of you might remember a site called FantasyIQ.com that I linked to last season - they're back now and are rolling out their new and improved start/sit interactive advice. In order to ask or answer a start/sit query, you will need to sign up for an account (or can login in with your twitter or facebook account) but it looks like most start/sit questions have at least 1 answer and several more in many cases. FF links = ideal holiday present

Happy middle of the week! In less than two weeks we'll be back on the train headed to Virginia to spend the first half of Christmas with my family, followed by the second half in Tennessee with my husband's family. Unfortunately we're far, far behind on the present train and are going to need to make some serious progress over the next few days. Our families will probably get the "here, we made you a grandson/nephew for Christmas" line but it would be nice to have a little something under the tree for them as well. So Santa Sara will have to kick it into high gear soon...in the meantime, consider these daily links a sort of holiday gift to you all. Enjoy! Making the unlikely happen

Remember last week how I mentioned our need to pull to the lead in the waiver wire run for daycare for our little dude? Well we've had some major success and he's got a 3-days-a-week spot waiting for him in January, which to me might just be the equivalent of making the fantasy playoffs. No, scratch that, even winning my whole damn league. It's an awesome feeling when something you think is unlikely to happen actually pulls through...and makes your life that much easier. So here's to those of you who were on the playoffs cusp and actually made it in - kudos, and may these links lead to your continued success! Winter is arriving here in NYC - it was a blustery day out there and I saw my first snow flakes of the season a few hours ago. And with winter we get fantasy playoffs; exciting time of year, my friends! Many of you might be wrapping up your regular seasons now and hopefully all of you are looking at a spot in the playoffs. In case you need an extra edge, don't worry, the links here will keep on coming... Friday link fest

By now I think you all might be familiar with the site FantasyPros.com which has been looking at the weekly accuracy of experts' rankings and start/sit advice. In addition to that analysis, for a few weeks now they've been running a contest that pits you and your finely tuned fantasy skills against one expert with a little cash money at stake. Sign up, create your dream team (salary cap style), and see if you can beat FootballGuys' Sigmund Bloom this week. If you do, you win a little money and with the holiday season here, who doesn't want some extra money in their pocket? So have at it! Flying into Week 13 links

Just bought a ticket to fly out to Colorado with our son to visit friends next month. My husband is flying out a few days ahead of us for a conference so I've got some fun times alone with an infant on a plane. I'm in awe of any and all parents that do this with some frequency as the idea alone freaks me out enough that I considered trying to talk my mom into do a hellish one day fly-to-CO-and-back-home kind of trip. Then I realized it's time to man up though, right? In between worrying about a trip that's weeks away though I of course found some more Week 13 links for you. Could be a waiver wire coup

So we're going through one of the ultimate real life waiver wire-esque experiences. Back in July we toured a few daycare centers so that I can go back to work part-time at my library gig in January...but being New York City, that's far easier said than done. When we signed up for the wait lists at these daycares, we were roughly 80th and 40th at two different places. Sweet. Nothing like queueing up with the rest of Brooklyn for the chance at a spot. Yesterday I talked to one of the daycares (the latter one where we were 40th) and there might be an opening for our little dude but it depends on whether some of the folks in front of us are still interested; in essence, will they put their waiver claim in or will we get the spot? We should know in the next day or so and I must say this is weighing heavily on my mind. Could be as great of a coup as my Marques Colston waiver acquisition of 2006. Speaking of waivers, still plenty on that front to bring you as well as more prep for W
