If you're a regular reader and haven't caught on to the schedule switch going on here on FFLibrarian, just a quick heads up that I'll mostly be posting at night now for awhile as I get adjusted to my new job schedule. Also my posts might slow down a bit in the offseason, but never fear my fantasy football fiends, there's always something to write about! Thanks to all who came to Buffalo Wild Wings last night for the first official FFLibrarian Game Watch, especially those of you who stayed til the bitter end or traveled across boroughs to get there. Good times despite the crappy game we all endured. Oh Steelers. At the start of the season, who would've guessed that one was coming? I've got a fun weekend ahead - a little mini college reunion of sorts. There are four of us that were roommates during college and now that I live here in NYC, we're all in the northeast - two of us are even in Brooklyn. Since we've previously been spread across the country - and the world now that I think about it - our close proximity is just too good to pass up. So the two non-NYCers are coming into town for some weekend fun. Certainly makes up for the lack of college football. This morning my husband and I are taking a ferry to Jersey to see one of my closest friends who is up in the area for Thanksgiving. This might be a quick post - I've got a final round interview with a library here in NYC and need to head out the door before long. My mom is coming to visit this weekend - she's going to be the family guinea pig on the fancy wifi-enabled buses that run from DC to NYC (yes, seems a little odd to call a bus fancy). My sister lives here in NYC, too, which means my mom will be in complete heaven spending all weekend with her girls (if you know my mom, I promise you could see her visibly gushing with excitement for this weekend) and I can't wait to have her here in my new home. Well I'm back in Boulder for a short vacation and it feels like I've hardly been gone. The flatirons are gorgeous, the downright cold morning temps are refreshing, and the vast amount of nature that I can see at any given time is appealing. But - and I'm surprised to admit this - a part of me misses New York already. Can you believe it?! I've been gone 24 hours and I already feel a twinge, missing the new hometown. That's either a testament to how quickly NYC sucks you in - or that I am a quick adapter that just loves my home wherever it may be. So how did it feel? Awesome, right? A full day of football is a beautiful thing even when you're team (real or fantasy) doesn't come out on top. But this Broncos fan is grateful for last minute miracle plays. And hey, my Northwestern Wildcats had a great game-winning field goal in the last few seconds of their game on Saturday - basically I'm big on teams that like to leave you in the lurch until the end. I'm playing against Tom Brady in a handful of leagues tonight, but against both Brady and Moss in one league - so you can imagine I'm hoping that the Pats don't exactly light it up in the air tonight (though I'll take some Brady-Welker action). Meanwhile if I end up watching the game with my Brady-loving sister, she's going to be annoyingly unsympathetic to my situation. I've got family in town until tomorrow and then I fly to Boulder on Wednesday night for a long weekend - busy week coming up, but I'll do my best to answer start/sit questio...

I'd say last night's game certainly lived up to the first game of the season hype - an overtime defensive battle with missed kicks, fumbles, and some impressive grabs ( bummer for Polamalu though ). Good stuff all around and it only makes me more excited about this weekend's games. On a different note, it's a bit odd to be in New York City on a September 11th anniversary. I was living in Washington, D.C., back in 2001, having just graduated from college a few months earlier and was out at a job interview on 9/11/01 - so I'm no stranger to the feeling of panic on that day. But there's something different about NYC. Living in the city now gives me even more respect (if possible) for what New Yorkers experienced that day. Later this morning I'm meeting with a personal trainer for the first time in my life. When I joined a gym here in NY last week, along with the membership came the chance to meet with a trainer - who could say no to that? This morning marks the start of a fantasy football industry mock draft that I'm involved in - I just grabbed Michael Turner with the 4 th overall pick but feel free to follow along with the mock draft on FFToolbox's site, Experts Mock Draft Results . I'll be interested to hear your commentary on my team once it's complete (could take a little while) and what you think some of the best and worst draft picks are. The mock draft is being run by MyFantasyLeague .com which is also the same great site that is going to host a FFLibrarian league this fall. There will be room for up to 96 teams, divided into multiple conferences. The beautiful thing about a conference in California is that 2-hour lunch breaks can be spent by the pool. It's bracket time, my friends. This is one of those rare times of year when a sport other than football falls to the forefront of my mind. I love daylight savings - yesterday around 4:30 or so I went out for a run with the full comfort of knowing the sun would still be brightly shining when I got home. Love it. As I noted last week, my husband and I are moving this summer and we now have our future home narrowed down to either Washington, D.C., or New York City. We won't know where we're headed for sure for another month or so but I'm already starting to think about life as an NFL fan from the eastern time zone. Gotta be honest, I love watching games from the mountain time zone; the games start at an ideal 11 am and are over at a reasonable time of night. Not so on the east coast. This could be a big shift for me... I've been promising an update on my analysis of expert rankings and have fallen behind a bit. As loyal readers might know, I am in a bowling league - more by default than anything - and apparently my competitive streak really digs bowling, too. I was doing pretty well for awhile and then hit my mid-season slump or something. But last night I bowled again for the first time in a few weeks and if I may say so, I rocked. Still some up and down moments on the ol' lane but I think maybe I just stopped thinking so hard about it and remembered how to have fun with bowling. At the end of the night one of my favorite characters in our league told me that I need to bowl with more confidence - he thinks that if I can finish with a strong follow through and raise my hand way up to the ceiling after releasing, that I'll bowl like a rockstar every week. Since I have NO idea what I'm doing and my form is likely dreadful, I'll take any advice I can get - but of course as with everything in my life, I can't help but relate this to fantasy playoffs.
