Winner of the 2009 FFLibrarian League is...

There are big, fluffy flakes coming down outside my window right now and I'm thinking about the mayhem that will be taking place just a few miles away at Times Square tonight. We thought about joining in on the New Year's Eve madness but I think we're just going to have a few friends over for dinner and drinks instead. I woke up this morning with a monster of a sore throat so I'm wondering just how much celebrating I have in me today...we shall see. But speaking of monster things, let's talk about the 96-team monster FFLibrarian League which had its inaugural season this year. Yes, really 96 teams - we were split into 6 conferences of 16 teams and each conference had their own draft. This past week we had our final championship week that pitted the 6 conference winners against each other, which included the following teams: Conference 1: Bookie Conference 2: American Atheists Conference 3: HitNRun Conference 4: I'm Rick James Bitch Conference 5: BIG DUKE

Week 17 playoffs prep

Hello from the 95 corridor - I'm en route from DC to NYC on a truly special bus. It's filled with plug-ins, wifi, and New Year's Eve cheer, so I thought I'd get a few links up while I'm cruising up the east coast. Many thanks to those of you who asked after my car situation. We've got a new clutch in my mom's car and hit the road back up to DC late yesterday afternoon. After spending a little time in a new sports bar in my neck of the Arlington, VA woods upon our arrival last night, we're all a little better than ever. Soon we'll finally be back in the comfort of our own home surrounded by two cats that no doubt will be overeager for some loving. Sure hope they're psyched to watch some bowl games...  We've got Week 17 prep going on in a serious way, my friends. Read on for today's tips: A little waiver love still coming out: CBSSports.com's Waiver Wire article has some suggestions for Week 17 at the bottom but primarily focuses

Those clutch moments...

Well sometimes things really don't go as planned. Our car broke down yesterday as we were cruising along highway 81 in Virginia heading from Knoxville back up to DC on the next leg of our travels. Small disaster. We were towed off the interstate exit ramp and found a mechanic who can replace the clutch (we're hoping that's all that's wrong with it) by lunch today. So after my mind kept going cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching as I thought of how our plan to save money was actually backfiring on us, we found a crappy motel and holed up there, drinking beer and watching MNF. Could be worse, right? But right now I should be heading back home to NYC but instead we are sitting in a motel room in a small town in SW Virginia, trying to see how long we can milk a late check-out before we have to take refuge in a nearby Waffle House. Sigh. So I had big plans for this post to unveil the winner of the 96-team monster FFLibrarian League, but I think I'm going to save that for l

Keep your fantasy season rolling

Greetings from Tennessee - we're hitting the road again today and heading back up north after a few days with my in laws. So this will be yet another brief blog post, but frankly, there aren't a ton of articles to link to today. Here's hoping that all of you who are still playing in the championships right now are looking at a big win this week. Speaking of which, for those who have been following along with my Buffalo Wild Wings All-Star Blogger league , I am in the final 2-week round of the playoffs. This week I will lose by a few points but I have next week to gain some ground and bring in a win...so I can guarantee that I'll be paying close attention to which players will be rested in Week 17. So let's get to today's top links... CBSSports.com's First Response: Stalled out in Indy does a solid job as always in looking at the games from the weekend and pulling out some interesting nuggets. Another good recap on the weekend comes from Razzball - The Da

Consensus start/sit Week 16

Well I hope you all have had a very merry Christmas. I don't have a ton of time since I'm enjoying time with family, but I thought I'd throw up a few links and of course the Consensus Start/Sit names for the week. First up, links... If you're looking for some last minute injury advice, see what Rotoworld has to say in Week 16 Last Minute Injury Glance . Christmas Eve linkage

Merry Christmas Eve. It's like a Christmas miracle that I'm getting this post up today - crazy times here running around seeing family and friends. I probably won't have a post up again until Saturday or maybe even Sunday morning, when I'll hopefully do a consensus start/sit for the week - so may you all have a merry and footballicious Christmas day. Let's get straight to today's links: Plenty of start/sit stuff coming up despite the holiday times: RapidDraft's Week 16 Start 'em/Bench 'em Report Talented Mr. Roto's Love and Hate for the Holidays Fantasyfanplay.com's Play 'Em/Lay 'Em: Week 16 FFGeekBlog's Hits & Misses - Week 16: Championship Time RotoExperts' Dear Diary: Sit/Start Fighting Chance Fantasy's Who to Start, Who to Sit Any of you who are playing in Week 17 may want to scope out Fantasy Depth Chart's Handcuffing Your Playoff-Bound Studs . Week 16 prep for you almost-champs!

Greetings from Virginia where there are piles of snow and family and friends galore. Our extended family met up in DC last night for dinner and in the midst of a melee of family shenanigans, the restaurant valet dude managed to lock my cousin's keys in his car...while the car was still running. Chaos ensued, hangers were brought out, and great celebrations erupted when disaster was averted and the restaurant manager was able to jimmy the lock open with the hanger. Pretty standard really. Lots to do today so I've got just a few links for you today: Mid-week brings us more waiver wire articles: FFGeekBlog's The Wire - Week 16: Championship Week The Hazean's Daily Haze: Week 16 Waiver Wire Thoughts FFToday's Through the Wire Wondering which players will be top 5 in 2010? Heading out for the holidays

I'm rolling out of town today for the holidays - in a few hours my husband and I will pick up my sister and brother-in-law and we'll drive down to Arlington, Virginia, for several days of family fun. On Christmas Day we'll hop back in the car and make the next portion of our Christmas trek down to Tennessee to hang with my husband's family. Should be good times and certainly the most driving we've done since we moved here. But all this car time most likely means less blogging time. So bear with me if I'm a bit quiet this week, check out some of the awesome sites that I regularly link to, and most of all enjoy the holidays. Let's get to today's links: We've got plenty of waiver wire advice still coming this week: KFFL.com's Waiver Wire advice comes to us listed by position (link goes to QBs) Pigskin Addiction's Waiver Wire Work FFToolbox's Week 16: Pickups of the Week FantasyPros911.com's Waiver Wire Pickups FFManiaxs' Wee

Both playoffs and 2010 advice

Well it has been a weekend of late nights and late mornings here in Brooklyn. With both my brother-in-law and some friends in town, we've been out late enjoying sporting events and good times. But it's not all puppies and lollipops here - I've lost in the playoffs to a friend who likes to needle me about any and all wins he has over me (yup, I'm talking about you, Sam), but I'm still alive and well in two other leagues including the Buffalo Wild Wings All-Star Blogger League . If Quinton Ganther can put up 22 or fewer points, I'm money and will move onto the final round of playoffs. I've got my fingers crossed since that would certainly make up for my world of hurt what with the Broncos losing to the Raiders. I can't believe I typed that sentence. So painful. But hey, at least I'm not Ryan of Fighting Chance Fantasy whose losing parlay bet means he not only has to suffer through watching Dirty Dancing but will also need to sing "(I've Had)

Consensus Start/Sit for Week 15

Greetings from a so far unsnowy NYC. However I just talked to my mom who is pretty much blanketed in a winter wonderland down in my hometown of Arlington, VA. In a few hours I'll be headed to the Duke vs Gonzaga game here in New York and I'm expecting to be tromping through snow on the way home...snow is just so much more fun when you don't have a car or any driving to worry about. Yea subway. Meanwhile, there's football on tonight, baby! Love the Saturday night game action and I've got a few links to get you prepared - plus this week's consensus start/sit. First up, the weekly Five Game Parlay that I do with Fighting Chance Fantasy - sadly I'm still trailing in that competition but I've had a few good weeks lately and think I can at least make a little more progress before the season ends. This week's roundtable is up on Fantasy Phenoms with some of the sharpest minds letting us know which players are sleepers and busts this week. A little st

Streaming Live Librarian

Happy Friday - and it truly is a happy day now that I've seen Reggie Wayne come back to life. I'll be meeting my opponent in the Buffalo Wild Wings league, Scott Engel, on live "tv" today - Scott joins up with ubatv to do a show called Fantasy Playbook every Friday afternoon. The show films in a studio in Manhattan so today I'll be heading over there to be a guest on Fantasy Playbook, which will also be streaming live if you don't have access to ubatv. Check it out from 2-3 today (or watch in from the archives if you're say gainfully employed and unable to watch a show at work) for discussion on Week 15 matchups. (Post show update: I mistakenly made a bunch of start/sit calls thinking that Pittsburgh is playing Chicago this week - my apologies! This is what happens to me at the end of a long season I suppose...)  I've got a lot going on today, so I've got a slightly abbreviated post today. I should be back with the consensus start/sit by Saturda

Mixing in some basketball

My brother-in-law is coming to visit this weekend - should be fun, we always have a good time when he's around. He's in town to hit up the Duke vs Gonzaga game at Madison Square Garden on Saturday - he went to law school at Duke and is quite the Duke fan. I'm psyched for the game and to see his fandom in action live and in person. Here's hoping that upcoming snowstorm doesn't trap him here, though it looks like my native Virginia might get the brunt of the storm with much of the northeast missing out on a pre-Christmas blanketing of snow.   Meanwhile today I am huddled over a cup of coffee trying to stay warm and caffeinated - prepping for my shopping excursion this afternoon. And tonight we'll be looking for a sports bar in which to watch the Colts vs Jags game. All in all, a nice day ahead. So let's get to today's links without further ado: I've got a couple of fflibrarian-in-other-places links for you - first up, read the NY Times' Fifth D

Window shopping for Week 15

I'm not a huge shopper so this declaration probably won't surprise anyone who knows me well: I've only stepped into a store once for Christmas shopping this year. Everything else has been online, baby. Again perhaps not a shocker seeing as I spend all day trolling around the internet for the latest and greatest in fantasy land, so why not do the same for Christmas gifts? But I feel like I'm missing out a bit on the classic New York City Christmas experience. So tomorrow I might brave the crowds and cold to window shop a bit for the heck of it. Another time you might want to window shop? Cruise on over to your waiver wire and see who is available. Take a good long look, poke around - and if there's anyone that your opponents might pick up this week, why not use your own waiver wire picks to block your opponents from adding any further fantasy talent? That is of course only if you have the room to spare on your squad. So for some more thoughts on this philosophy tur

Waiver wire madness

Don't hate me for what I'm about to say, you worker bees, but I slept until 9:15 this morning. The benefits of unemployment must be milked, I suppose, and so really I'm practically fulfilling an obligation here to all those mornings that I longed to sleep in rather than get up and head into work. The only downside is that sleeping in pushes back my postings, so thank you all for your patience with me. I've got some good links to make up for it... Well if you're in the playoffs and finding yourself in need of a waiver wire pickup, then I wish the best for you...not exactly the best spot to be in. But fortunately there are quite a few waiver wire links to get to today: FFToolbox.com's Week 15: Pickups of the Week Fighting Chance Fantasy's On the Radar - Week 15   KFFL.com's Waiver Wire by position Pigskin Addiction's Waiver Wire Work FFJungle's Waiver Wire comes with a rating scale FantasyPros911.com's Waiver Wire: Week Fifteen Pick

Monday night links

Yo yo! I bring you an early evening post to give you something extra to make your Monday Night Football game just a smidge better. Fantasy playoffs nerves

I had a great weekend with my college friends in town and am now desperately trying to finish up my Christmas shopping this week. But what's really on my mind right now are the playoffs. I'm concerned, my fantasy football friends. I'm in the first week of the playoffs in my Buffalo Wild Wings All-Star Blogger league and it's not going well. Fortunately each round of the playoffs is actually the sum of your fantasy points over the course of two weeks so if I don't win this week, it's not the end of the world. But I'm afraid that I'm in a deep, dark hole that will be tough to get out of next week when I play Scott Engel of RotoExperts again. For those of you who haven't been following along on this one, the winner will go to Miami to live blog the Super Bowl and throw a party with ESPN's Trey Wingo . I've been in first place by a healthy margin for awhile now so I'll admit it, I've had my hopes up that my regular season success would c

Week 14 info and 2010 season prep

Thanks to all who came to Buffalo Wild Wings last night for the first official FFLibrarian Game Watch, especially those of you who stayed til the bitter end or traveled across boroughs to get there. Good times despite the crappy game we all endured. Oh Steelers. At the start of the season, who would've guessed that one was coming? I've got a fun weekend ahead - a little mini college reunion of sorts. There are four of us that were roommates during college and now that I live here in NYC, we're all in the northeast - two of us are even in Brooklyn. Since we've previously been spread across the country - and the world now that I think about it - our close proximity is just too good to pass up. So the two non-NYCers are coming into town for some weekend fun. Certainly makes up for the lack of college football. Moving on to today's links: It's Friday, which of course means there are more start/sit links to get to: Yahoo/Roto Arcade's Flames/Lames: Garrard&

Playoffs begin tonight!

Oh boy, oh boy, do I have a ton of links for you guys today. My laptop is getting ready to burst with all of these awesome articles, so prepare yourself. Meanwhile, tonight I'll be living it up with friends, family, and readers at the Brooklyn Buffalo Wild Wings starting around 8 PM - any last minute takers? Let me know ! It should be particularly interesting since my opponent in the BWW league this week is Scott Engel, who will be there watching the game with us. I'm pulling for good things from Santonio Holmes despite the crappy weather forecast in Cleveland. We'll start things off with places you can find my other articles/links throughout the web. First up, my article for the Bruno Boys, looking at up and coming RBs over the past few weeks and whether or not they'll continue trending up over the playoffs - Projecting RBs in the Fantasy Playoffs . Get in on the weekly contest fun

A couple of afternoon items for you. First up, my sister's favorite piece of news: Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen had a baby boy yesterday (press conference video starts right away). Congrats to the happy family. If you happen to be out of the running for the fantasy football championship, why not join in on some fun with my free weekly league with 365FantasySports.com. Start here and use the password 14book when prompted - you can then search in the contest lobby for either the FFLibrarian.com Freeroll or FFLibrarian.com Points Cap games. With all the chaos of the holidays and gearing up for the playoffs, I forgot to participate in the weekly leagues myself for a little while - but I'm back and better than ever. So join us and don't let the fantasy season end on you yet! A few other links for the afternoon: FantasyFootball.com's Weekly Projections - love how customizable their projections are. Do you have a snow day? Make it a FFLibrarian day!

A funny thing happened this morning as I awoke to the sound of hail hitting our bedroom window with some unpleasant regularity and ferocity - it occurred to me that I don't actually have to leave my apartment today if I don't want to. As a freelance writer who works from home (sounds so much better than an unemployed librarian, doesn't it?), there's absolutely no one out there who is expecting me to be anywhere other than here at home. I'll liken this realization to the one that college kids have when they leave home for the first time and realize that they can have ice cream for breakfast if they really want - you know you probably shouldn't, but it's certainly an option. If I stay inside all day, this might be my first step towards being the crazy cat lady who never leaves her house...so I'm counting on the weatherman to be right that this will blow over by late afternoon and will plan my daily outing accordingly. Now for those of you with several inc

Bring on the waiver wire links

Yesterday was quite the active day in maternity wards in northern Virginia yesterday - not just one, but two of my friends had babies yesterday. Welcome to the world, little ones! Two more future fantasy football fans perhaps? Meanwhile, those of you who are interested in joining me at the Brooklyn Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the Thursday Night Football game with Gregg Rosenthal, Scott Engel, and other FFLibrarian readers, please send me an e-mail to let me know you'll be coming (fyi, it's off the B,Q,2,3,4, and 5 trains)! Onto today's links: Lots and lots of waiver wire links. I'm guessing that most of you are pretty comfortable with the teams you've pulled together so far but if you need that extra push for your first week of the playoffs - or your final week of the regular season - scope out these suggestions: The Hazean's Week 14 Waiver Wire Adds KFFL.com's Waiver Wire by position - links to QB NFL.com's Waiver wire report Fighting Chance

Week 13 craziness!

The college football bowl schedule is set! My Northwestern Wildcats are surprisingly headed to the Outback Bowl to play Auburn (first New Year's Day bowl game we've been to in over a decade) and I've got my fingers crossed for a W. Click here to scope out the schedule or read Stewart Mandel's commentary on the matchups . Meanwhile in NFL land, things got pretty topsy-turvy with the Redskins almost upsetting the undefeated Saints, and the Raiders (I mean seriously?) toppling the Steelers. And who saw the Cardinals' dominating win over the Vikings coming? Love it when football keeps us on our toes - so let's get to today's links: If you missed any of this weekend's games and would like to hit the fantasy highlights, see what Rotoworld's Receiving Frenzy has to say about this week's top 5 and bottom 5 at each position. Consensus Start/Sit - week 13

Greetings and welcome to the Week 13 consensus picks. First up though, a few reminders and some links. If you're interested in coming to watch the Thursday Night Football game on December 10th with some other FFLibrarian readers and FF experts, send me an e-mail and let me know if you can make it to the game watch at the Brooklyn Buffalo Wild Wings (Manhattanites, it's really not a far ride on the subway). Also if you'd like to be in the running to win a Buffalo Wild Wings lawn chair (see image on previous post) sent directly to your home, just e-mail me the lineup that you think I'll use in my BWW league and my high scorer for the week. Results are in: Readers' favorites revealed!

Welcome to the 1st Annual FFLibarian Readers' Choice poll - it's results time, baby! During the month of November, 729 of you voted for your favorite fantasy football websites in a variety of categories - and now it's time for the results. Participants could vote for as many sites as they wanted and could also write in a site that wasn't included in the poll. I've decided to list the top 5 sites for most questions, with the top 10 listed for the all important favorite overall website question. So drum roll please... 1. Which website featured on FFLibrarian is your overall favorite fantasy football resource?  #1: CBSSports.com #2: Bruno Boys #3: FFToolbox #4: FFToday #5: ESPN/Talented Mr. Roto #6: Rotoworld #7: Mac Bros #8: FantasyPros911 #9: FantasySharks.com #10: KFFL 2. Fantasy Football Royalty

For those of you who are planning on coming to the Buffalo Wild Wings game watch in Brooklyn next Thursday, I'm hoping to add some fantasy football royalty to the guest list. So far I'm working on bringing Rotoworld's Gregg Rosenthal and RotoExperts' Scott Engel...and my sister. No, she's not into fantasy football - just the Patriots - but I'm just psyched she's happy to join in on the fun so she's royalty to me. If you'd like to join us, just send me an e-mail so that I can add your name to the guest list. Meanwhile as I mentioned earlier this week, I've got another contest for you all - another BWW giveaway. If you've been searching high and low for that perfect lawn chair, look no further. Take a look at the image below - if you can correctly guess my lineup for the BWW All-Star Blogger League , and which player will be my high scorer for the week, you'll be in the drawing for the lawn chair ( e-mail me your guess after using the a

BWW game watch on December 10th!

I've been busy tabulating results from my 1st Annual FFLibrarian Readers' Choice poll - and also doing some clean-up on my annual accuracy award given to the fantasy football expert with the most accurate preseason rankings. I run the competition in conjunction with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association (FSTA) and just booked my travel and hotel (hello, Palms) for the annual FSTA conference where I'll be presenting the award - Vegas, here I come! The best part of the conference is meeting some of the faces behind the websites that I link to and I'm looking forward to reconnecting with some of the fantasy experts out there. More news to report - I'll be hosting that game watch I mentioned at the Brooklyn Buffalo Wild Wings on Thursday, December 10th. I'd love to have as many of you attend as possible, but space is going to be limited so I'll need an RSVP from those of you who are interested in coming. We'll get the night kicked off around 8 PM or so - p
