My husband is out of town for an economics conference in Chicago this weekend and just realized that he'll be flying home during the end of the games on Sunday. Sad for him. I'm planning on putting my son to bed for the night by 4:30 on Sunday so that I don't miss a second of what I assume will be a brilliant Broncos victory. Kidding, kidding, my son wouldn't go for that...and perhaps a Broncos victory isn't in the cards. But we shall see! A Bronco fan can hope, can't she?! Well we've made it to Knoxville with everyone's sanity still intact (at least I think the cats are still sane; hard to say for sure). We've got lots of activity coming up in our new house over the next few days as our furniture/moving boxes and new appliances are delivered...and drum roll please...as we buy a new car since we were car-less for the past 2 years in NYC. I know, I know, I promised daily posts once the lockout was over...and here I am letting days (eons really) go by before posting again. My apologies, fantasy football friends, but we are finally on the road with our big move from Brooklyn to Knoxville and the past few days have been full of packing, movers, and driving - all with a decidedly poor quantity of internet access. But we hopped in a car last night and brought our son and 2 cats as far as my family's home just outside Washington, D.C., where we'll take a breather for a bit as our furniture slowly rumbles on down to Tennessee. The Fantasy Douche has done us all a great favor - at least those of us who are on Twitter. He used the magic of excel, coding and the Twitter API to develop the Fantasy Football Discovery List , which will guide you to high relevance fantasy football tweeters - basically those folks who have a fair number of fans and are also followed by a lot of FF experts, too. In a mere 5 weeks I will be on the road with 2 cats, a 10-month-old baby, a husband, a litter box, and a few suitcases all crammed into a rental car as we move from Brooklyn (our home for the past 2 years) down to Knoxville, Tennessee (our home of the future). Those of you who have been around the blog for a few years know that we've moved somewhat frequently, so you can imagine my delight upon hearing that my husband's future employer will cover the cost of not just our move, but the packing of our possessions. Packing?! Tremendous! I can't quite imagine how it will feel a few days before the move to have absolutely nothing boxed up and for all of our many baby-related items to remain strewn about the house. To celebrate the awesomeness of that, let's enjoy the Manning Brothers' "Football Cops" trailer . My mom and dad lived in New York City back in the late 60s, early 70s and they have both talked about how glorious spring in New York can be. And my friends, I can now concur. I don't want to get my hopes up since I realize it's the funkiest of all weather months (you know I love it), but take the near 70 degree temps we've had here lately and combine them with daylight stretching later into the evening...and you've got one happy librarian. I don't work on Fridays, so I'm trying to figure out where I can take my laptop to spend some time outside while still watching tomorrow's big tourney games. Man, life is good! For a few years after college I lived in DC, which is when I met my husband and also made a bunch of awesome friends. One of those friends is here visiting us for a few days and it's funny how hanging out with him takes me back immediately to the good times of the early 2000s. I hate to talk about the weather again but I can't help it! Never in my life have I seen such a city dedicated to using umbrellas in the snow. In fact, I swear that prior to moving to New York City it was something I'd only seen little old ladies do...but here it's an epidemic. So on today's wet, slushy walk from the subway to work, I busted out my umbrella. Gotta be honest, got to work a little bit drier and warmer. I might be a slight convert. Yeah that's right, I'm a proud member of the Shaun White fan club, I mean how could you not be?? The dude is tremendous; that's all there is to it. Ahh, it's a long weekend here for us and it was sorely needed - post-Super Bowl I came down with a cold and of course had copious amounts of laundry to be done. Well it's a bit of a winter wonderland here in New York City - there was plenty of talk about how much snow was going to fall today, but I was actually pleasantly surprised to see that the snow really had little to no impact on my commute and traversing around the city. Meanwhile my poor mom in northern Virginia had her heat fail on her today of all days - fortunately she somehow got some repairmen who were willing to come out and get her back on the happy furnace track again. I love daylight savings - yesterday around 4:30 or so I went out for a run with the full comfort of knowing the sun would still be brightly shining when I got home. Love it. On Wednesday I bowled both one of my worst and one of my best bowling games of my adult life. I stepped up to the lane and proceeded to bowl at least three gutter balls in the first 6 or 7 frames. It was rough but turned into a bit of a roller coaster as I proceeded to find my groove and rock the next game. My bowling ups and downs of course reminded me of the Broncos roller coaster week - bad news on Cutler and BMarsh , but good news on some interesting free agency grabs. I am officially slacking on pretty much every project I have noted I'd be working on here on the blog over the past few weeks - I can't even remember to upload Olympic Curling Trials photos off of my camera to get you all some evidence of the game I now refer to as a sweet marriage between bar shuffleboard and bocce . Oh my Broncos. Such drama this weekend! I don't even know where to start but I guess Cutler as potential trade bait is probably the biggest story followed by Brandon Marshall's latest arrest and of course free agent pickups like Brian Dawkins and Correll Buckhalter . So let's just get right to it - I love my Broncos, I love Cutler and yes, he can come off as a bit of a whiner...but is there any possible way Cassel was worth that trade for the Broncos? Negatory, good buddy , so I just don't buy that the Broncos were really giving it much consideration at all. I'm siding with Gregg Rosenthal on this one and assuming that it will blow over fairly soon, but now there's the Marshall news, too; how will this affect Marshall, Cutler and/or Royal's fantasy value for 2009?
