In order to appease you all for my absence last month (just one post in February! Where on earth was I?), I'm posting a photo of our son who is quickly becoming quite the little man. He's cute, he's happy, and he's a hell of a lot of work. But life is good in the FFLibrarian household and we've got big news churning over here. As many of you know, my husband and I moved to Brooklyn 1.5 years ago after spending seven years in Boulder, Colorado...and now we're moving yet again. My husband is an academic, hence our mildly nomadic life, though I'm thinking this next move might stick for awhile. We won't know where we're going for another 24 hours or so until all job offers have been made and weighed and reweighed, but I can safely say that we will soon be living in the south. Quite the whirlwind to go from the mountain west to NYC to southern living. Glad you all have been along for the ride and it should once again keep my summer a bit nutty as I balanc...

I'm officially in transition time between the Olympics and March Madness - fortunately I have the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference up in Boston this weekend to keep me entertained. Well as you all can imagine, I was very sorry to see the Olympics wrap up last night, particularly after putting up a pretty decent showing in RosterSlots.com's fantasy Winter Olympics game . I even found myself bragging to my sister about my new fantasy olympics skills. But we've got lots of combine news out there so let's delve right in to today's links... I hate to talk about the weather again but I can't help it! Never in my life have I seen such a city dedicated to using umbrellas in the snow. In fact, I swear that prior to moving to New York City it was something I'd only seen little old ladies do...but here it's an epidemic. So on today's wet, slushy walk from the subway to work, I busted out my umbrella. Gotta be honest, got to work a little bit drier and warmer. I might be a slight convert. Kind of a crazy day - for starters, it was the first time since I was maybe 6 years old that I coveted galoshes. I stared at all sorts of fellow subway passengers with lovely, cozy, dry-looking rain boots and thought ahead to the rest of the week that has a cold, wet rain in the forecast for New York City. Living in Colorado for so many years I lost a sense of what it means to experience non-stop, day after day rain. It doesn't do that in heaven Colorado. So now I'm wondering how long I'll last before caving and buying some serious galosh action. Other craziness - go back in time about 2 years and I bet 90% of you would be surprised to hear that LaDainian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook were both released within about a day of each other. Finally, the week we've all been waiting for is here: the Scouting Combine. Not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight with the excitement but truly, this is mighty good, my friends. Means football season is just a tad bit closer. My brother-in-law is coming into town tomorrow for a long weekend and I believe we'll be rocking the U.S. Olympic Trials for curling this Saturday. Try to hide your jealousy; the curling trials are being held just a few towns down from Boulder and I sort of feel like this might be a once in a lifetime chance to see curling in person. Who knows, maybe one day curling will be all the rage and I'll travel far and wide to watch my grandchildren win curling championships...but for now this might be as close as I ever get to such a random sport. Today I would like to discuss the beauty of a Colorado winter. Sure, some days walking to the bus stop is a miserable, windy, snowy experience but then there are weeks like this one where the high every day will be right around 60. Awesomeness. Apparently I'm not much of a winter person. That whole sun and warm temperatures thing has a way of winning me over. I chatted up my grandparents yesterday who live in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and they were in the midst of yet another snowstorm. Michiganders, I think it's time you consider moving to Colorado. Back to the bowling alley tonight, my friends. After a rather abysmal performance 2 weeks ago I'm kind of dreading how things might go down tonight. I'm trying to train the competitor in me to reclaim the fun in bowling even if I'm only rolling at the level of an 9-year-old. I swear I am bowling at about the same pace as I was at my 9 th birthday party, which was of course held in a bowling alley. Though a duck pin bowling alley now that I think about it so I'll take some solace in the fact that I might have improved over the past 20 ish years. We're being financially conservative these days and not splurging on the NFL Network at home anymore so I won't actually be able to watch non-stop Combine footage this week/weekend. Bummer. As I noted last week, my husband and I are moving this summer and we now have our future home narrowed down to either Washington, D.C., or New York City. We won't know where we're headed for sure for another month or so but I'm already starting to think about life as an NFL fan from the eastern time zone. Gotta be honest, I love watching games from the mountain time zone; the games start at an ideal 11 am and are over at a reasonable time of night. Not so on the east coast. This could be a big shift for me... I've been promising an update on my analysis of expert rankings and have fallen behind a bit. I really am hoping that this will be the week that I can pull that info together and analyze some new sites, so stay tuned on that front. Today is a great day, my fantasy football friends. My husband and I are a little bit closer to figuring out where we might live next year (he's finishing up his PhD this spring so he's on the job market now, traveling around for interviews) and I just found out that one of my closest friends is having a baby.
