2010 Week 17 start/sit links

Greetings, friends. Happy almost New Year's Eve and happy college bowl season. I can only assume you'll all be pulling for my Northwestern Wildcats when they play in some random bowl on Saturday. To be honest, I'm not particularly excited about their chances since their QB (who is basically 90% of their offense) was injured for the rest of the season back in November.

We survived our holiday travels and made it back to Brooklyn last night all in one piece. While we probably didn't endear ourselves to all of our fellow travelers thanks to some occasional meltdowns from our little dude, it certainly wasn't as bad as it could have been. And hey, we missed the chaos surrounding the major blizzard here in NYC while we were gone, so that's something to be grateful for!

A reminder that there's a FFLibrarian Playoff Challenge again this year - basically it's a fresh slate to prove your fantasy wisdom. I'm working on a prize for the winner this year so sign up and show what a stellar fantasy football player you are.

Let's get to the Week 17 links...
I'll be back before Sunday's games with the consensus start/sit for Week 17!

Thanks for the Rotoarcade link. That's exactly what I requested yesterday. Extremely helpful!

Hey Library Lady! Thanks for the links - I discovered you about mid-season, and you helped me back into the championship game. Have a good offseason with your young un, and I'll see you in June or July hopefully.

However, I have to tell you that I believe my Red Raiders will beat your Northwesterns.

A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha...

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this...

2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet

Friends, I've got a first draft of the 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet up here as a google doc. If you're new to this annual spreadsheet or need a refresher, here's the scoop. I take the top 200 or so overall rankings that are freely offered by a handful of sites and I average out their rankings for each player. I also take the standard deviation to see how a player's rankings differ among experts, and add that in as another component to give you a sense of how much consensus there is on a player. I drew from the following sites this year: FFToolbox, CBSSports.com (both Jamey and Dave), ESPN, FFCalc's ADP, The Fake Football, The Football Girl, NFL.com, DavidGonos.com, SI, Yahoo, FantasyPros.com, and RealTime Fantasy Sports. All offered roughly a top 200 overall ranking and you can see each site's ranking (gathered 8/20/14) in the second tab on the spreadsheet. You'll see that I really haven't fleshed it out a ton yet - I still have to ge...
