Streaming Defenses: Week 11

Bob is out of town and yet again making things happen on the streamer suggestion front. I'm the slacker here who couldn't quite get the post up last night; apologies to anyone waiting with bated breath. I'm working on an general waiver wire post for you, too, which I hope to get up in a few hours. So here you are, without further ado: streaming ds from Bob.

Welcome back fellow streamers. It was another decent week for the streams last week, as the highly owned only averaged 9 points compared to the streamers averaging just a little less. To be sure there were disappointments in SD and DAL, but don’t despair, same could be said of MIN and NE. So carry it forward this week.

This week we have a good week for the highly owned in spite of a couple of big Defs on bye (DEN and SD). But we have some newcomers to the stream recommendations, and I really like a couple of them. The Raiders are starting to hit a stride to the playoffs and the Def is coming along. DAL stumbled last week but I like them even more this week. And who would have thought I would be streaming NO? But I like the matchup, even though no other site has mentioned them.

Also watch two defensive battles this week, with ARI vs MIN and LAR vs MIA. I don’t expect a lot of points from either Offense, but I see opportunity on Defense for all four. Finally, a warning to those that pick simply by target, beware PIT’s defense, it isn’t good.

With that here’s how I see it this week.

MIN has only averaged 5 pts/game over last three games, but ARI is a good target and getting better. 3rd best start of the highly owned.

Vikings can't run and ARI has a good secondary and even better pass rush. Watch this defensive battle with the Cards in your pocket.
SEA

SEA still has some Def capability no matter who the opponent, and the Eagles can be had against good defenses. A good start for SEA.
KCC

Chiefs have quietly averaged 14 pts/game over the last 5 games. Bucs are the 12th most generous to Defs. Yes, I'll have some of what the Chiefs are serving this week.
CAR
NO

Saints have given up about 12 pts/game against good defenses and CAR has averaged 14 pts/game the last three. I like CAR to start playing like they're capable, especially if Kuechly is back.
PHI

Eagles DEF has faltered in last three games, only averaging 6 pts/game, and SEA is the 4th stingiest. Not a good start even with the Eagles at home. If you start them, temper expectations.
NE

Pats have been stumbling on Def lately. But SF is still a great target even on the road. Watch NE make a comeback on defense after faltering against SEA.
LAR
MIA

Rams only managed 10 pts against the most generous team in the league, the Jets. This week won't be as easy, but it's a decent start if you have them, but temper expectations.

This is a sneaky start. BAL hasn't played a top ten Def since week 1. And the 'Boys were doing great before last week. But I like DAL at home as the 1st best stream.
OAK
HOU

OAK's Def is trying to look playoff worthy like their Off, and HOU is a 13th most generous to Defs. I like the Raiders, yes I said the Raiders as the 2nd best stream.
NYG
CHI

The Giants have a pretty good one/two punch at DE and have been doing it lately. With Jeffery out, who is Cutler going to throw to? I like the Giants as the 3rd best stream and only 5% owned.
MIA
@LAR
20%
10
It gets a little tougher picking streams after the first three, but MIA can wreak havoc on a generous OFF and there aren't many as good as LAR in giving up DEF points. LAR is 2nd most generous. Start as you 4th best stream.
NO
@CAR
3%

CAR is now the 3rd most generous team to DEFs. Even though NO ranks 26th, they have scored double digits in their last 2 games. They're worth a shot at home for the 5th best stream.
PIT
@CLE

Even with CLE as a good target, I'm not sold on the PIT Def, avoid this recommendation.

With both RG and RT out for Chicago, does New York move up even more? If so, how far? My debate was Miami or the Giants and I was going Miami. Maybe these injuries make enough of a difference to change that?

Thanks for the good work.

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this

2010 Week 2 consensus start/sit

Greetings and happy weekend. I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. So while these aren't my personal recommendations, I do think knowing what the consensus is could be of help when making lineup decisions...so enjoy! Note: the players are listed in no particular order. QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. Spiller, Beanie Wells, Ronnie Brown WR Start: Santana Moss, Legedu Naanee, Malcolm Floyd, Mike Williams (TB), Dez Bryant Sit: Randy Moss, Michael Crabtree TE Start: Chris Cooley, Todd Heap, John Carlson, Jermichael Finley Sit: Jermaine Gresham, Owen Daniels, Tony Scheffler, Jeremy Shockey, Bo Scaife Kicker Start: La

Start/Sit Week 4 and a smattering of rankings

It's been awhile, my fantasy football friends. I have lofty intentions of getting several posts up here each week, but life is busy and I will do my best. So in the intervening 6 years since I've posted regularly on here, our family added another child (now there are 3!), moved back to Boulder for a sabbatical year and then returned to Knoxville, and we have basically been chugging along like many of the rest of you. My two boys (who turn 12 and 9 soon) are in a fantasy football league for the first time this year with their buddies, which ostensibly is the just the dads (and mom!) playing one another of course. But my oldest is taking it super seriously and what kind of Fantasy Football Librarian would I be if I didn't step up my game for him? So I'm back - and am interested in the fantasy landscape - lots of the same awesome sites out there, but many new ones as well. I'll try to incorporate a mix. Please be sure to let me know if my 2006 ways aren't working i
