A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family.

I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but that ultimately she has a condition that is incompatible with life. My husband and I are blessed with an amazing almost-2-year-old son, as I'm sure you know if you've been around the blog long enough, and this situation has just completely blindsided us.

The next few weeks are going to be extremely complex and emotional for me and while I would like nothing more than to stay entertained by posting on the blog and enjoying all the awesomeness of fantasy football, I can't muster up the energy to do so these days. I am deeply sorry for this since I honestly enjoy being able to get you guys linked out to resources. Be patient with me. I will be back and posting again this fall, I just don't know when. Hopefully I'll be back around the first week or two of the season but until then, there are so many tremendous resources out there, many of which you'll find over under Fantasy Football Content on the right. Don't forget to stay tuned to the news via sites like Footballguys, Rotoworld, or Draft Sharks. And I always endorse checking out FantasyPros.com for consensus rankings and such.

I am still running my annual accuracy competition, which was announced by the FSTA today. If you would like to submit your rankings for inclusion, please see the template and info on the FSTA website and e-mail them in to us by September 5. I encourage rankings to come at the last minute to account for all preseason news/injuries.

If it's not asking too much, please send positive thoughts and prayers for my family. I am sure many of you have been in similar shoes or just know the pain of losing a loved one.

So here's to the start of the season: may you draft well, start/bench wisely, and reign as the kings/queens of your leagues!

I'm so terribly sorry to hear the news on Caroline. Thank you for feeling open enough to share it with everyone here as that takes a lot of courage. But, you've obviously built up a nice fan base and all of the comments should show you how many of us care. I hope you and your family take the needed time to cope with this and try to resume your lives. Take care.

I am so sorry for your loss and remember the sorrow from having gone through a sudden and unexpected miscarriage prior to the births of my two beautiful daughters. I hope that my prayers and warm thoughts combine with those of all of the people who have offered their kind words to give you and your family peace and the strength to go on at this very difficult time.

For anyone in a fantasy football league what you think about a 14 team league with

Romo, Julio Jones, Welker, Mccoy, Doug Martin, Jermaine Gresham, Peyton Hillis, Kenny Britt, Mark Ingram, Santa Moss, Hanson (Detroit kicker) San Fran defense.

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this

2010 Week 2 consensus start/sit

Greetings and happy weekend. I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. So while these aren't my personal recommendations, I do think knowing what the consensus is could be of help when making lineup decisions...so enjoy! Note: the players are listed in no particular order. QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. Spiller, Beanie Wells, Ronnie Brown WR Start: Santana Moss, Legedu Naanee, Malcolm Floyd, Mike Williams (TB), Dez Bryant Sit: Randy Moss, Michael Crabtree TE Start: Chris Cooley, Todd Heap, John Carlson, Jermichael Finley Sit: Jermaine Gresham, Owen Daniels, Tony Scheffler, Jeremy Shockey, Bo Scaife Kicker Start: La

Start/Sit Week 4 and a smattering of rankings

It's been awhile, my fantasy football friends. I have lofty intentions of getting several posts up here each week, but life is busy and I will do my best. So in the intervening 6 years since I've posted regularly on here, our family added another child (now there are 3!), moved back to Boulder for a sabbatical year and then returned to Knoxville, and we have basically been chugging along like many of the rest of you. My two boys (who turn 12 and 9 soon) are in a fantasy football league for the first time this year with their buddies, which ostensibly is the just the dads (and mom!) playing one another of course. But my oldest is taking it super seriously and what kind of Fantasy Football Librarian would I be if I didn't step up my game for him? So I'm back - and am interested in the fantasy landscape - lots of the same awesome sites out there, but many new ones as well. I'll try to incorporate a mix. Please be sure to let me know if my 2006 ways aren't working i
