FF Vegas Style

I've been in Vegas for the past few days for a library conference but was lucky enough to step outside of the conference confines to celebrate my birthday on The Strip last night. Oh Vegas. So very different from Boulder, Colorado. I must say, I can totally get down with a world where free drinks are somewhat the norm, but there are other less desirable aspects of Vegas for sure - I probably won't be celebrating birthdays in Vegas from here on out, but I guess you never know. Enough on Vegas, let's talk fantasy football:
  • The Bruno Boys are up and better than ever; check out their new site - you won't regret it.
  • The season has truly begun; draft kits are sprouting up all over the place and I shall endeavor to find the free ones for you. If you know of any, let me know! In the meantime, if you want a great draft kit in exchange for cold, hard cash, try Rotoworld's Fantasy Football Draft Guide. And if you need reasons to check it out, read this - you might see a familiar name. And on that note, for those who are looking for some follow-up on my analysis of the most accurate fantasy sites from 2007, hang tight. I'll be getting that spreadsheet up by the end of the weekend.

What do you make of Matt Forte's value after Cedric Benson's recent arrest?

Well I personally can't imagine that Benson will really be a Bear for a whole lot longer; so I think this can only help Matt Forte's value. I'm guessing that by the time the season gets here, Forte will be drafted as an RB2. I think he might perform more like an RB3, but there's a lot of hype about him and I think he'll go at the end of the 2nd round in a lot of leagues.

Hey FF Librarian, hope the library conferences went well in Vegas. I'll be heading there this weekend for a cousin's bachelor party, so that should be pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to anything free, as I suspect it's going to be quite a pricey trip when all is said and done.

Thanks Brandon, the library conference did go well. And really Vegas started to grow on me by the time I left...as you can imagine a casino and a library are pretty different places so perhaps I needed the sensory overload of Vegas. Enjoy the free drinks and have a great time in Vegas!

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. Start/Sit Week 4 and a smattering of rankings

It's been awhile, my fantasy football friends. I have lofty intentions of getting several posts up here each week, but life is busy and I will do my best. So in the intervening 6 years since I've posted regularly on here, our family added another child (now there are 3!), moved back to Boulder for a sabbatical year and then returned to Knoxville, and we have basically been chugging along like many of the rest of you. My two boys (who turn 12 and 9 soon) are in a fantasy football league for the first time this year with their buddies, which ostensibly is the just the dads (and mom!) playing one another of course. But my oldest is taking it super seriously and what kind of Fantasy Football Librarian would I be if I didn't step up my game for him? So I'm back - and am interested in the fantasy landscape - lots of the same awesome sites out there, but many new ones as well. I'll try to incorporate a mix.
