IDPs for Week 5 and Not Living in a Closet

Time to get your IDPs in order. For info, check out The Hive - and ProFantasySports should have their IDP Report up pretty soon, too. In the meantime, check out FoxSports.com's game predictions, which are organized by matchup. I'll have the link take you to the Colts/Titans game since Peyton Manning is kind of a big deal in our house (photo from athlon sports). Check back with me in a few years to see if my firstborn is actually named Peyton.

In other news, I just found out that one of our janitors is actually living in the closet just down the hallway from my office. She removes the trash bin that normally resides in there and makes the closet her home. While this brings up all sorts of Seinfeld references I think the big questions floating around right now are 1) does the closet have a light (I certainly hope so) and 2) how long will this gig last for her? This just makes me completely grateful that the home I return to every night is bigger than 6X6 and doesn't smell like other people's trash. Hopefully I can update this story with a happy ending before long.

The closet living thing is somewhat reminiscent of a recent Grey's Anatomy episode, no?

Back on the fantasy wagon

With my library conferences behind me (for a few weeks at least), I can now concentrate on fantasy football again. If you happen to be a librarian and are interested in how my co-presenter and I tied together fantasy football and information literacy, check out my co-presenter’s blog . Though I imagine most of you would much rather catch up on the following football news and thoughts for the week: I remain a bit dazed and confused by my certainty last summer that Cedric Benson was going to rock my RB2 world in 2007. Didn’t happen and now he’s moved onto ankle surgery, alleged intoxication and resisting arrest on boats. Awesome. You can practically taste Matt Forte’s value skyrocketing here. In fact, wondering about rookie RBs in general? Well then check out FF Xtreme’s The Day After: Ranking the Rookie Running Backs . I love reading articles or stats that challenge my preconceived notions – The Fifth Down’s Chad the Completion Percentage Machine does just that. No offense to thos

Streaming Defenses - Week 16

Don't know about you all, but in our house this week is just chock full of events, visiting with family, and getting organized for our upcoming time off over the holidays. Lots of scrambling going on around here and attempts to install some sense of gratitude in my boys. What am I grateful for this season? Many things but let's start with Bob. Bob has been my fantasy football rock, coming back week after week to post. Hats off to you, Bob, and thank you for your diligent work and research. So here he is with this year's final streaming defense post.  Well it’s the last week of the Fantasy Football Playoffs in most leagues, and my last post of the season. I hope you all found these posts useful. And if I failed you, you have to murder a lot more experts before you get to me. I myself have had a terrible playoff season. I’m out of all but one of my leagues due to the weird games the last two weeks. Between weather that didn’t materialize to normally consistent players co

Rankings, flow charts, and beyond

Greetings from a remarkably cool morning in Tennessee. I've turned my local Starbucks into my office (I telecommute) most mornings and it's so splendidly breezy and cool out here that I'm actually happily outside on their patio cranking out some fantasy links for you this morning. Enjoy! Rankings: Athlon's 2015 Quarterback Rankings (other positions available here ) RotoBaller's Fantasy Football PPR Rankings: Top 200   Rotoworld's Silva's August Top 200  DavidGonos.com's Fantasy Football 2015 Tight Ends: Top 30 TEs Meanwhile, for a little draft strategy, scope out The Fantasy Fix's 12-Team Standard League Flow Chart - kind of a fascinating little nugget here. He outlines which position(s) you might want to target for each round via flow chart, and then skip down below for commentary on particular players that you might want to target.  Or CBSSports.com has their annual look at how the draft could go from each drafting position for fourteen
