Week 11 starts/sits and more

Guest writer Jen is back with her thoughts on injuries and sleepers, plus plenty of links to keep you happy as you set your lineups this week. If it's more Jen you're looking for, I've got good news for you - find more of her writing here on BlindsideFootball.com in an article that looks at the Cleveland backfield

Hey all! We have week 10 in the books, and as usual we have some injuries. It is a violent sport, so it’s a near guarantee that players will be injured weekly. Here are a few big ones:
Ronnie Hillman (RB, DEN): Foot sprain, 2-3 weeks. C.J. Anderson filled in nicely and made the most of his opportunity. His 13 rushes for 90 yards were impressive. Even more impressive? 4 catches for 73 yards and a touchdown. Most of us are happy to get that out of our WR1. Anderson should be a factor this week with Hillman out, but I like Montee Ball to get out there and try to win his job back.

Brandon Marshall: (WR, CHI): Ankle sprain, again. I read online that Marshall swears he is playing, but I’ll believe it when he practices (update from Sara: when I was finally able to post this article of Jen's, Marshall did participate in a limited practice on Thursday). This will uptick both Alshon Jeffery and Martellus Bennett’s value, but Jay Cutler really needs to get it together.

Carson Palmer (QB, ARI): I swear, my heart still hurts over this one. Maybe it’s because he has been through this before, or because he seems like the all around good guy that everyone likes. He must have some excellent karma however, signing a $50 million extension just 48 hours before his season-ending injury. I’d personally downgrade all Arizona players for now, but Drew Stanton has filled in before and gotten the job done.

I came across this stat, put together by Dave Dameshek of NFL.com, and I just had to share it:

Kinda crazy, huh?

Here are some week 11 links to help temper or increase your anxiety when setting your lineups:

numberFire.com's 15 Transactions Week 11: We love numberFire.com, so I recommend them weekly.
Michael Fabiano's Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 11: Fabs (almost) always nails it on here.
Adam Pfeifer's Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down Week 11: Another guy’s opinion that I highly value.
Jamey Eisenberg's Start 'Em and Sit 'Em Week 11: Jamey’s in-depth analysis always helps.

And some rankings, just in case you are still not sure:
Week 11 Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Another link by my man Jamey Eisenberg, and his man Dave Richard.
FantasyPros.com's Week 11 Rankings: For my fellow PPR-ers out there.
SBNation's Week 11 Rankings: I’m a big fan here because of the extra links at the bottom.

Here’s a look back at my sleepers from last week:
Justin Hunter (WR, TEN): 1 catch for 17 yards? Seriously? I don’t understand it. He plays on pretty much every single offensive snap, is 6 feet 4 inches tall, and is very athletic. The underutilization of Justin Hunter is simply mindblowing. I will never, ever, recommend him again. And I certainly won’t be playing him in FanDuel either.
Charles Sims (RB, TB): Well the fumble was a killer. The silver lining? Despite garnering a little less than half (23) of Rainey’s 44 snaps, they both earned the same amount of touches. If one of these running backs can establish themselves as the lead guy, there is an excellent match up against Da Bears in week 12.
Davante Adams (WR, GB): So Aaron Rodgers throws for 6 touchdowns in the first HALF of the game and Davante Adams finishes with 1 catch for 10 yards? I have no explanation for this, except that I wiffed on him worse than Justin Hunter.
Jace Amaro (TE, NYJ): He only caught 2 passes for 6 yards, but he scored! 8PPR points is serviceable for the TE position; they can’t all put up Gronk or Jimmy numbers! Still, he is getting the targets in the red zone, so he is still a decent option (just not this week - he is on bye).
Jay Cutler (QB, CHI): I predicted 3 scores and 1 pick for Cutler, so of course he went out there and threw for 1 score and 2 picks. This is just another one I can not understand. “Second year in Mark Trestman’s offense” was all the rage in the preseason. Maybe it’s Cutler, maybe it’s the system, who knows at this point. I think with all the offensive woes, people easily forget how awful this defense is as well. When a quarterback is constantly playing from behind, interceptions ensue.

And a few sleepers I like this week:
Kyle Rudolph (TE, MIN): This is, of course, if he goes, and I think he will. He’s more talented than Chase Ford, who has 11 catches for 127 yards and a score over the last 2 weeks. Whichever TE goes, start them with confidence as they face the Bears defense that is straight garbage, to put it nicely.
Theo Riddick (RB, DET): I keep mentioning him, yet I failed to pick him up in any of my leagues. I know he has a tough match up, but 3 receiving touchdowns in 3 games just can not be ignored. Reggie Bush is being phased out, and Riddick could be a big time boom-or-bust, but again, THE TOUCHDOWNS!
Pierre Garcon: I couldn’t find the cool little swirly thing to put under his “C”, no disrespect Pierre! He has not been the player fantasy owners expected when the drafted him, but the matchup here is just too good. DeSean Jackson is the obvious here, but I have a feeling Garcon will outscore him.

And finally, a few twitter follows you should check out:
Football Savages: Don’t follow them if you offend easily. Do follow them if you, like me, enjoy a little filth, a lot of beer, and a ton of content.
Chester Duke Carson: He likes stats and television. What a wonderful combination.
Dr. Roto: Senior fantasy sports expert for ScoutFantasy.com...need I say more?
Stacie Stern: Gotta support my fellow ladies! Check her out on SiriusXM also.
Stephania Bell: One more for girl power, but this is also the account to follow if you have anyone on your team who is questionable or a game time decision. She is all over the injuries.

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this

I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. Start/Sit Week 4 and a smattering of rankings

It's been awhile, my fantasy football friends. I have lofty intentions of getting several posts up here each week, but life is busy and I will do my best. So in the intervening 6 years since I've posted regularly on here, our family added another child (now there are 3!), moved back to Boulder for a sabbatical year and then returned to Knoxville, and we have basically been chugging along like many of the rest of you. My two boys (who turn 12 and 9 soon) are in a fantasy football league for the first time this year with their buddies, which ostensibly is the just the dads (and mom!) playing one another of course. But my oldest is taking it super seriously and what kind of Fantasy Football Librarian would I be if I didn't step up my game for him? So I'm back - and am interested in the fantasy landscape - lots of the same awesome sites out there, but many new ones as well. I'll try to incorporate a mix. Please be sure to let me know if my 2006 ways aren't working i
