I might be behind the times a bit here but yesterday afternoon was my first video Skype experience - and it rocked. In the past I've used Skype to chat with my husband while he travelled, but being a non- webcam family, I've never been able to use the video function. But yesterday I "met" one of my closest friend's 3-week-old baby and I can't get over what an amazing service Skype provides. Love it. Plus a little Skype time with a baby was the perfect balance to an otherwise football-rich day. Don't get me wrong, bring on the football, but I think some days I could use a little more balance in my life. Surprisingly the world does not revolve around football (I know, I'm still shocked by this revelation, too). But let's pretend like I does and get to today's linkfest : Oh MJD . This past week I asked you all to send me your guesses for the QB with the most passing yards for a chance to win a season-long sub to the excellent FFXtreme . Matt Leinart ended up hucking the ball for the most yards (360) but since none of us saw that coming, it was the #2 QB, Aaron Rodgers, who ended up bringing luck to Nick from Madison, WI. Rodgers threw for 258 and Nick had sent in his guess of 270 yards, making him the closest guess for the week. Nick will soon be cruising around the FFXtreme website , with all sorts of tips and tricks at his fingertips. Wouldn't you want that, too? Thought so. Happy football day! College football is here, preseason football continues. LOVE it. I've been a little slow on this past week's preseason contest winner (which QB had the most yards) but I'll be posting an update on that front later today. I played tourist for awhile yesterday and roamed the Times Square area (I know at least one reader will be glad to know that I did indeed see the naked cowboy) and I'm thinking of getting in touch with my inner tourist even more and cruising around Manhattan in one of those tour boats later this week. But today I have a draft for an experts IDP league led by the CBS Sports crew. It was a fun league last year though the draft is 29 rounds long. Yes. 29. However my big announcement for the day is that I am a part of the Buffalo Wild Wings Fantasy Football All-Star Blogger League . The league winner will win a trip to Miami during the Super Bowl so you can imagine that I'm gunning to win. The league commish is ESPN's Trey Wingo and there are all sorts of savvy experts in the league with me. As you all can imagine, I was really interested in the outcome of the Bears v Broncos game last night. I wasn't necessarily pulling for a bad game for Cutler but I really wanted the Broncos to shine. There were a few moments when I thought the Broncos D had their act together (hey, it's all relative) but it was a downer of a game for us Broncos fans. Sigh. Keep an eye on Orton's finger . In other less than awesome news, apparently the updated average ranking position spreadsheet I was working on this weekend has disappeared into a deep, dark hole within my laptop. It's gone, no amount of searching every nook and cranny of the computer has forced it up out of its hiding spot. The silver lining here is that as I gather new rankings today, they will be even more updated than the ones I pulled on Friday. In an effort to be a bit more hip to the scene in my nabe (that's NY-speak for neighborhood; used anywhere else? Am I just that out of it?), my husband and I took to the streets last night to find some fun sports bars in our neighborhood. Turns out this city loves baseball. In one bar all 7 screens were turned to baseball (including two different views of the CHW v BOS game) and we had to ask for one to show the football game on Fox. In the other bar, the football game was indeed on, but the 14 other screens all showed baseball - or horse racing. I realize it's still the preseason so I won't give up on these places yet but I was surprised. I guarantee sports bars in Boulder would have had way more football going on...am I going to be a football girl in a baseball town?!
