Friday fun: NFL Draft details & fantasy forecasting

This weekend we're heading to a Knicks game - they'll be playing the Heat (one of the few professional sports team names that does not end in S...now you're wondering about the rest right? Make that a fun diversion for a Friday afternoon!) and somehow it took us basically the entire NBA season to make it to a game. Better late than never!

I'm sure I'll have football on my mind this weekend though, I mean the draft is now less than 2 weeks away. So onto today's links...
  • FantasyFootball.com has a spectacular 2010 NFL Draft info page - they have all sorts of rumors and notes but also links out to mock drafts and rankings, scouting reports, team needs, and even a handful of interviews. Lots of good stuff here.
  • Also on the draft front, Rotoworld's Evan Silva (one of my favorite draft dudes) reviews some of the big names on the defensive side in Draft 2010: On the Defensive - he notes that Maycock sees roughly 20 of the top 32 picks going to defenders, making this an even more relevant article for you draftophiles.
  • More draft news and rumors from Football Jabber's NFL Draft Update Countdown - 13 Days article.
  • Now for some articles with more of a fantasy bent...starting with Matthew Berry's "way-too-early preseason top 100" list - note this list of course will be updated post-draft and reflects some of the trades, retirements, and injuries over the past several months.
  • If you couldn't help but notice how Berry dropped Fitzgerald, well, get used to the falling of Fitz. For more on that topic, see FFManiaxs' Will Larry Fitzgerald's Fantasy Status Decline in 2010?
  • LestersLegends.com has some QB specific rankings up, updated with the McNabb news - see Updated Early 2010 Fantasy Football QB Rankings for the details.
  • And finally for those of you who are thinking about making some tweaks to your league's rules this year and maybe are considering a PPR (points per reception) league, take a look at the Bruno Boys' take on how PPR changes your 1st round picks in The Differences Between Standard & PPR Leagues.
Enjoy the weekend!

I hope the folks I draft against take Berry's advice and rate Fitz as the 8th receiver.

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this

2010 Week 2 consensus start/sit

Greetings and happy weekend. I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. So while these aren't my personal recommendations, I do think knowing what the consensus is could be of help when making lineup decisions...so enjoy! QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha
