More Waiver Ideas for Week 10

Hi football fans. For those of you still needing some suggestions on which free agents to grab this week, don't worry...there's a world of waiver wire advice out there. I posted some of those waiver wire sites already on Monday and Tuesday but the list goes on forever.
  • FanProphet's Week 10: Tuesday Wire Tap is up on Screaming Sports but he doesn't stop there, oh no. FanProphet also provides a weekly series called "The Gospel" that might be most helpful for those of you who do weekly fantasy competitions - right now The Gospel QBs is up and check back often for his RB and WR fantasy predictions for Week 10.
  • CBS Sports' Playing the Waiver Wire: Can you get a Priest? - doesn't have a ton of WR help if you're looking for some receiver suggestions. But read on for RB and QB thoughts.
  • FFToday's Through the Wire: Week 10 - this list goes pretty deep or "scours the barrel" as the author puts it. He also includes some IDP thoughts, which I certainly appreciate.
  • I alluded to this post yesterday, but here's FanNation's Wire Tap article - have not seen TE Billy Miller mentioned anywhere else yet.
  • Yahoo's Pickups of the Week - kind of a cool feature of this waiver article is that you can actually see a photo of the players that are being suggested...except for Priest Holmes - where's the Priest?
  • Fox Sports' Waiver Review: Pick up Fargas, Dunn - it's official. I picked up Maurice Morris. I believe that with a viable runner in there (sorry, Shaun Alexander) that the Seattle offense could be a serious force.

A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet

Friends, I've got a first draft of the 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet up here as a google doc. If you're new to this annual spreadsheet or need a refresher, here's the scoop. I take the top 200 or so overall rankings that are freely offered by a handful of sites and I average out their rankings for each player. I also take the standard deviation to see how a player's rankings differ among experts, and add that in as another component to give you a sense of how much consensus there is on a player. I drew from the following sites this year: FFToolbox, CBSSports.com (both Jamey and Dave), ESPN, FFCalc's ADP, The Fake Football, The Football Girl, NFL.com, DavidGonos.com, SI, Yahoo, FantasyPros.com, and RealTime Fantasy Sports. All offered roughly a top 200 overall ranking and you can see each site's ranking (gathered 8/20/14) in the second tab on the spreadsheet.
