What could be better than Thanksgiving football?

Happy Thanksgiving week. I'm sitting in a nearly empty library since the students here are all off for the holiday. Oh to be a student again. But I am going to Monday Night Football tonight, so nothing can wipe the perma-grin off my face. Go Broncos.

Unless you've been living in a hole of some sort, you're likely aware that there are three NFL games on Thanksgiving, which means setting up your lineups a heck of a lot earlier than usual. So let's jump right into things and see who might be out there on your waiver wire - or perhaps more importantly at this time of year, who are the sleepers for Week 12?

I hope that you disregarded my advice but in case you didn't, my deepest apologies. Moss and Campbell looked great yesterday - and I also like the Goat's suggestion of Drew Carter.   • FF Xtreme's Week 12: Players on the Rise/Decline - for thoughts on guys you might want to trade (if your trade deadline hasn't passed yet) or pick up off of waivers.
A trade in one of my leagues went through on Saturday - I acquired Terrell Owens in this deal. You can only imagine my opponent's outrage yesterday when T.O. kept putting up TDs, sending my point total way above my opponent's (sorry, Ethan). It was glorious. But do you know what else was glorious? Seeing my hometown Redskins playing like a team that was actually gelling. I only wish that it had resulted in a win.

A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet

Friends, I've got a first draft of the 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet up here as a google doc. If you're new to this annual spreadsheet or need a refresher, here's the scoop. I take the top 200 or so overall rankings that are freely offered by a handful of sites and I average out their rankings for each player. I also take the standard deviation to see how a player's rankings differ among experts, and add that in as another component to give you a sense of how much consensus there is on a player. I drew from the following sites this year: FFToolbox, CBSSports.com (both Jamey and Dave), ESPN, FFCalc's ADP, The Fake Football, The Football Girl, NFL.com, DavidGonos.com, SI, Yahoo, FantasyPros.com, and RealTime Fantasy Sports. All offered roughly a top 200 overall ranking and you can see each site's ranking (gathered 8/20/14) in the second tab on the spreadsheet.
