Postseason FF Librarian's Challenge

For those of you who are looking for any opportunity to stretch out the fantasy season as long as possible, take a look at NFL.com's Playoff Challenge. As the rules note, points are based on the stats that your players accumulate during the playoffs and you are given 300 "units" to buy your 8 players (some of whom can be changed as the playoffs roll on). It's free, you could possibly win a trip to the 2009 Super Bowl, and for those of you who want to make it a little more interesting, you can play in the FFLibrarian's Challenge group. I've set up a private group by that name and anyone who is interested is more than welcome to join in by clicking on this link. There is a chance that link might not work, in which case you can just e-mail me and I'll send the group invitation your way.

There are all sorts of other postseason competitions going on - the FF Goat is on a search for more of them, so check back with him for other ideas. Or read Rotoworld's Post-Season Fantasy Rankings for guidance on who to pick up for postseason challenges.

The best is the commercial for it using the "You had a Bad Day" song. It made me laugh because that was me this year yelling at the tv as I watched Brady tank against the Jets and Tomlinson sit the second half against Detroit. I got knocked out the playoff finals over only 8 pts.

Hey Nice Lady! I wanted to invite you and any of your readers to play as well. I have one going where you choose a lineup each week. Once you use a player you can't use them again. Whoever has the most points by the end of the Super Bowl wins.

NFL.com game is ok, but to play real Fantasy, or as close as you can get in the playoff with out having a draft check out the guys at . It was a new site last year, looks like they gave it a new design (must better) this year. We played it last year it is pretty cool. You get to set a line up each week or the playoffs.

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet

Friends, I've got a first draft of the 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet up here as a google doc. If you're new to this annual spreadsheet or need a refresher, here's the scoop. I take the top 200 or so overall rankings that are freely offered by a handful of sites and I average out their rankings for each player. I also take the standard deviation to see how a player's rankings differ among experts, and add that in as another component to give you a sense of how much consensus there is on a player. I drew from the following sites this year: FFToolbox, CBSSports.com (both Jamey and Dave), ESPN, FFCalc's ADP, The Fake Football, The Football Girl, NFL.com, DavidGonos.com, SI, Yahoo, FantasyPros.com, and RealTime Fantasy Sports. All offered roughly a top 200 overall ranking and you can see each site's ranking (gathered 8/20/14) in the second tab on the spreadsheet.
