Updated Average Rankings Position Spreadsheet

Greetings, fantasy football friends. I've got the updated average rankings position spreadsheet for you this morning - and plan on being back tonight with some high quality links to help with your draft prep. For some background on the average rankings position spreadsheet, see this post from a few weeks ago. I've added in the Bruno Boys, so there's one more site averaged in here - and remember, this is based on top 100 overall rankings, but I've also divided it up to display within position rankings as well. If I can get my act together this week, I'll add a column to the spreadsheet that shows how much each player has moved since the last spreadsheet a few weeks ago, which is mostly just for my amusement really...

But in the meantime, here's the updated version on Google Docs or shoot me an e-mail if you'd like the excel version.

I believe there's a problem here. Probably just a nitpick but Ben Tate is listed as WR51. Last entry on the spreadsheet.

Thanks for posting the update.

I am curious to see which Bears WR is the beneficiary of the new pass happy Martz offense. Aromashadu and Knox are listed close together, but I heard one NFL analyst and former all-pro argue that Devin Hester is the guy to watch as Cutler airs it out this year.

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet

Friends, I've got a first draft of the 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet up here as a google doc. If you're new to this annual spreadsheet or need a refresher, here's the scoop. I take the top 200 or so overall rankings that are freely offered by a handful of sites and I average out their rankings for each player. I also take the standard deviation to see how a player's rankings differ among experts, and add that in as another component to give you a sense of how much consensus there is on a player. I drew from the following sites this year: FFToolbox, CBSSports.com (both Jamey and Dave), ESPN, FFCalc's ADP, The Fake Football, The Football Girl, NFL.com, DavidGonos.com, SI, Yahoo, FantasyPros.com, and RealTime Fantasy Sports. All offered roughly a top 200 overall ranking and you can see each site's ranking (gathered 8/20/14) in the second tab on the spreadsheet.
