Week 5 Consensus Start/Sit

Greetings from early morning baby feeding land. My husband is passed out horizontally along the bed right now in what I'll call the I'm-awake-if-you-need-me stance of total new parent exhaustion. I'm adjusting to this cat nap lifestyle though, I think, and have been able to pull together this week's consensus start/sit list. As a reminder I use the expert start/sit links I posted yesterday to tally up the number of players with the most start or sit votes. Names are listed below in no particular order and are hopefully helpful in making some tough decisions this weekend.

Ray Rice is killing me this year. I'm hoping he's a viable start this week (not that I have a choice).

I stayed home with our 1-month old today while the wife went shopping with her mom. I thought she was going to spontaneously combust if she didn't get out of the house.

J - Moss will be limited this week until he learns the terms the Vikes use. Sure, the passing tree isn't complicated, but he'll have to learn the nomenclature to be a full part of the Vikes' offense.

As for Rice - he'll come around. It hasn't been a huge year for consistent RB play except for Arian Foster. I have MJD and Chris Johnson, so I feel some of your pain with inconsistency.

OMG. I am so in awe of you pulling together a consensus for all of us with a teeny tiny absolutely adorable new kiddo. My son was born two years ago next week and my fantasy leagues tanked for the rest of the season. You are amazing! I hope you are getting a little bit of sleep.

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet

Friends, I've got a first draft of the 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet up here as a google doc. If you're new to this annual spreadsheet or need a refresher, here's the scoop. I take the top 200 or so overall rankings that are freely offered by a handful of sites and I average out their rankings for each player. I also take the standard deviation to see how a player's rankings differ among experts, and add that in as another component to give you a sense of how much consensus there is on a player. I drew from the following sites this year: FFToolbox, CBSSports.com (both Jamey and Dave), ESPN, FFCalc's ADP, The Fake Football, The Football Girl, NFL.com, DavidGonos.com, SI, Yahoo, FantasyPros.com, and RealTime Fantasy Sports. All offered roughly a top 200 overall ranking and you can see each site's ranking (gathered 8/20/14) in the second tab on the spreadsheet.
