FF Librarian's Challenge Update

For those 80 of you involved in the FF Librarian's Challenge on NFL.com with me, I thought you might want an update on how the standings look after Week One. If you are in the challenge and want to look at the full standings to see where you rank, just click on the Standings tab/link once you have logged in and you should be able to find yourself among all 81 of us.

Sadly, I should report that I am deep in the middle of the pack at 42nd. It hurts. But I'm coming back this week, baby, so watch out. The rest of us should all be in awe of the FF Goat - I've known this for awhile, but if you haven't had a chance to experience the Goat yet, I strongly recommend you check out his blog Fantasy Football Goat. I mean the guy is in the lead here for a reason - he knows his stuff.

I'm glad I actually know the person in last place so I don't have to make fun of a stranger here.

Now back to focusing on the LSU v OSU game.

didn't think I did that well, but it's good to be up there with some heavy hitters like Goat and Bruno Boys. We'll see come round 2. Good luck FFL, and everyone!

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet

Friends, I've got a first draft of the 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet up here as a google doc. If you're new to this annual spreadsheet or need a refresher, here's the scoop. I take the top 200 or so overall rankings that are freely offered by a handful of sites and I average out their rankings for each player. I also take the standard deviation to see how a player's rankings differ among experts, and add that in as another component to give you a sense of how much consensus there is on a player. I drew from the following sites this year: FFToolbox, CBSSports.com (both Jamey and Dave), ESPN, FFCalc's ADP, The Fake Football, The Football Girl, NFL.com, DavidGonos.com, SI, Yahoo, FantasyPros.com, and RealTime Fantasy Sports. All offered roughly a top 200 overall ranking and you can see each site's ranking (gathered 8/20/14) in the second tab on the spreadsheet.
