Last Minute Lineup - Week 14

A few links for those of you who are looking for last minute advice for your lineup. Please be sure to scope out the news coming in - my favorites are Rotoworld and KFFL. You'll learn valuable things there like, oh say, bench Marion Barber since he didn't even make the trip to Pittsburgh.

Other good last minute tips come from the following articles:
Good luck, everyone - I want to hear about some playoffs wins!

Who should i start Cassel or Cutler?

Can't Decide!
I'd go with Cutler, but that might be in part thanks to my general Broncos love. So I checked two unbiased sources:
--FFNerd has Cutler as the #3 QB and Cassel as #6
--AccuScore's projections have Cassel as #4 and Cutler as #5

So it's a toss up. Both have great receivers and awesome matchups but I just like Cutler's consistency a little more. Either decision though is a good one, really.

Good luck!

FFL you rock my world!
Bruno Boys has Cutler 3 and Cassel 6 and ESPN has Cutler 5 and Cassel 6 - SOOOOO - you have clinched it - 3 for 3 sources say go with Cutler.

With Hasselback out - NE could get up real big real early which may result in an grind it out game.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Yeah, Cutler!

I too started Cutler, and despite scaring the crap out of me at the beginning, his two TD's (to Brandon Marshall... also in my lineup) saved the day!

It didn't affect my (clinched) playoff status, but it may knock last year's champ out of the playoffs.
Westy sure delivered.

A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha...

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this...

2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet

Friends, I've got a first draft of the 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet up here as a google doc. If you're new to this annual spreadsheet or need a refresher, here's the scoop. I take the top 200 or so overall rankings that are freely offered by a handful of sites and I average out their rankings for each player. I also take the standard deviation to see how a player's rankings differ among experts, and add that in as another component to give you a sense of how much consensus there is on a player. I drew from the following sites this year: FFToolbox, CBSSports.com (both Jamey and Dave), ESPN, FFCalc's ADP, The Fake Football, The Football Girl, NFL.com, DavidGonos.com, SI, Yahoo, FantasyPros.com, and RealTime Fantasy Sports. All offered roughly a top 200 overall ranking and you can see each site's ranking (gathered 8/20/14) in the second tab on the spreadsheet. You'll see that I really haven't fleshed it out a ton yet - I still have to ge...
