Monday Recap

Wow. I don't really know how to sum up my fantasy weekend except to say it was either feast or famine for me. I had Marc Bulger, Javon Walker, and Rudi Johnson together in one league - they totaled for less than 5 fantasy points. I sat on my couch in a bit of a stupor, unclear how this catastrophe could have happened (funny, I felt the same way while watching Northwestern get demolished by OSU). But in another league, McNabb, Donald Driver, and Adrian Peterson really gave me some pretty big numbers. I would also like to publicly announce that I convinced my husband to start Kevin Curtis yesterday. It was awesome. If you don't have your very own FF Librarian to sit next to you on game day, no problem - just keep checking back with the blog for daily updates on all things fantasy football.   • ProFantasySports.com's Box Score Bandit has a quick recap for each of yesterday's games.
  • Fantasy Football Goat's Waiver Wire and Sleeper Watch Week 4 - while I still have Marques Colston left to play, I have lost pitifully to the Goat this week in our Blogger league. Thanks for not rubbing it in yet, FFGoat. In the meantime, read up on his waiver and sleeper suggestions, since he clearly knows what he's doing.

apparently, A. Peterson is the only offensive weapon the Vikings have. that's why i like him.

A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet

Friends, I've got a first draft of the 2014 Average Position Rankings spreadsheet up here as a google doc. If you're new to this annual spreadsheet or need a refresher, here's the scoop. I take the top 200 or so overall rankings that are freely offered by a handful of sites and I average out their rankings for each player. I also take the standard deviation to see how a player's rankings differ among experts, and add that in as another component to give you a sense of how much consensus there is on a player. I drew from the following sites this year: FFToolbox, CBSSports.com (both Jamey and Dave), ESPN, FFCalc's ADP, The Fake Football, The Football Girl, NFL.com, DavidGonos.com, SI, Yahoo, FantasyPros.com, and RealTime Fantasy Sports. All offered roughly a top 200 overall ranking and you can see each site's ranking (gathered 8/20/14) in the second tab on the spreadsheet.
