Week 8: Start or Sit?

I love start and sit suggestions. Honestly, can't get enough of them. Which is why I compile basically as many as I can and link to them every week. I have a new feature that I'm going to roll out this week and hope you all will find it helpful. On Friday I will post a summary of all those start and sit sites with 2-3 players in each position that are the most popular start suggestions and the most popular bench suggestions. That way, if you're short on time, you can just check out my summary rather than click on each start/sit link. So once it's up tomorrow, if you find it valuable or helpful, let me know and I'll keep it going. But for now, let's get right to the start/sit links for today:
  • FF Geek Blog's Studs and Duds: Week 8 - I'm trying to decide between starting Big Ben or Derek Anderson this week. Either one seems promising but the FF Geek Blog's words of wisdom are encouraging me to go with Ben Roethlisberger.
  • Coach Box's Wheelock's Start/Bench Recommendations Week 8 though leads me back to Derek Anderson...note, these guys include IDP advice as well.
  • The Goat. Probably my personal favorite and first stop when considering my lineups every week, so check out his Fantasy Football Start 'em Sit 'em and Sleepers for Week 8
  • The Goat is also connected with the Bruno Boys, who have two excellent resources for you with their Week 8 Start 'em or Sit 'em podcast and Week 8 Rankings (RBs & WRs are the only position rankings up so far but look for the rest as the day goes on).
  • DR U Fantasy Football Guru's NFL Start em or Bench em - Week 8 for a quick list of suggestions without any wordy analysis.
  • FFToolbox's Week 8: Start 'em - is that Vernon Davis' name I see??
  • FanNation's Start 'em, Sit 'em: Week 8 - I'm not seeing a whole lot of love for Maroney this week. I know Brady's massive TD count is depressing all Maroney owners (not to mention the injury problems) but I believe in Maroney this week.
  • Football Docs' Bench/Start Advice Week 8 - Rhodes is on the sit 'em side of this advice and perhaps for good reason with the Raiders considering releasing Rhodes.
I'll close this post out with some news on Travis Henry - the Rocky Mountain News reports that he appeared to be laboring just walking around the practice field yesterday. That doesn't sound like great news about his rib injury - could this week finally be Selvin Young's time to shine?? TINO, I'm sure you're pleased with that possibility. And a side note for Rod Smith fans, he finally practiced for the first time this season.

I wish Selvin & Stokley would hurry up and shine already. Plus, I've got Cutler as a fill in on my bye this week... so Denver just better have a great Monday... and send the other team Packin'.

A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha...

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this...

Guest post: WRs with a stellar SOS

Greetings, FFers and welcome to the start of a long weekend. To celebrate I have two posts for you today. Later in the day I'll have some links to get you through the weekend but first up, I thought I'd post a little something new to FFLibrarian. This summer I'll be rolling out a series of articles from Cris who has his own site that I've linked to several times since last fall - it's definitely a bit of a departure from my usual linking here on FFLibrarian so I'd love your feedback. Feel free to leave comments for either Cris or me in the comments section or via e-mail . Below you'll see an excerpt from his recommendations for wide receivers that you might want to consider based on a strength of schedule (SOS) that is his combination of fantasy points against, average draft position, and yards per attempt. Note the special emphasis here on the fantasy playoffs, Weeks 14-16. If you'd like to read the rest of Cris' rankings for team wide receivers,...
