Coming at you from the ARL

I had a great time in Arlington, VA, with family and friends this weekend as expected...though I've had a ridiculous number of people send me this Arlington rap (same guy did a fantasy football rap, too, among many, many other things). Not exactly the Arlington that I grew up in, but certainly what it has become...

Anyway, back to the issue at hand - fantasy football.
  • Hopefully you all aren't getting sick of offensive line analysis since I've got lots more to link to today and in the weeks to come. If you haven't seen the Rotoworld Draft Magazine yet, go look for it at your local bookstore - I've got an article on o-lines and some Bold Predictions for the 2009 season in the magazine. But in the meantime, here are some more o-line briefs from Ultimate Fantasy Football Strategy: the Houston Texans and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
  • Also on the o-line front, Fifth Down has done a comparison of the Giants and Jets in Who Has the Best O-Line? Giants or Jets? For a future New Yorker like me, I'll take any NY (ahem, NJ) team comparisons.
  • The news from my Denver Broncos just keeps getting worse and worse...what's going on Brandon Marshall? At least they have named Orton as their starting QB...progress.
  • Scott Engel brings us his Early Eye on Bargains - check out his list of 10 value players at this point in the season.
  • A lot of you have pointed out the awesomeness of the FootballGuys.com's Rate my Team tool...Football Jabber links to that great site as well as several other gems you might want to check out if you're looking for some free fantasy football tools.
  • This site is a new one for me - Fantasy Brothers. Take a look at their June RB Rankings for the top 68 RBs in the league.
  • Finally, the Bruno Boys have a nice overview of some RBBC situations in the NFC West.

I'm off to go enjoy my remaining time in Arlington. I spent the morning at Olympics Day handing out popsicles to kids at the elementary school where my mom works so it's time for a serious shower before hitting the airport. Back tomorrow with more!

FF Librarian,

What do you think about the of news of Brandon Marshall asking for a trade out of Denver, according to a recent Adam Schefter interview at www.850koa.com???

Oddly enough, the N.Y. Jets have suddenly have a waning interest in Plax, as a #1 receiver, says Rich Cimini of the NY Daily News: http://bit.ly/dRoqQ

Conincedence, Marshall + Plax news AND Broncos to Jets?

A conincedence or not, Marshall is pushing away from owner Pat Bowlen, and the NY Jets have been attempting to pull in a stereotypical #1 WR for months now. Seems to me a deal could be made easily, the question would then be at what price for all sides?

Sure does seem more likely that the Broncos are going to turn into a run-first team next season, if they trade Brandon Marshall. What do you all think about this?

Or the Broncos could pay Marshall more $$$ like Yahoo's Shutdown Corner Journalist suggests that Bowlen do: http://bit.ly/nPd7i

However, the Denver's just signed an ex-Chicago Bear named WR Brandon Lloyd. Why???

First of all, like your site here. Nice work. Now, I just spent an hour or so roaming around Fantasy Brothers after going there from a link from your site. Without question, without doubt, without a moments hesitation, I can say that I have never seen such stupidity and lack of fantasy knowledge combined in one location. The article was about the top 68 RB's for 2009. Horrible. Simply horrible. Please dont send people to this site with intentions of learning anything fantasy relevant. Only like with a disclaimer: "Hey go check out what the crackheads are saying now."
Dmbosstone, I am indeed from Arlington and yes, I found myself laughing at multiple points during the ARL rap. Good stuff.

Ryan, perhaps I'm being naive but I just don't think Marshall is going anywhere. I don't think the Broncos are going to be willing to lose Shanahan, Cutler and Marshall in the span of 5 months. Or perhaps I just really, really, really hope they don't deal away Marshall, too. Sure, he has some baggage and his off-field incidents are ridiculous, but unlike Woody Paige (http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_12597316) I don't think Denver is better off without him. The addition of Lloyd is interesting - gives Orton someone he's quite familiar with but I do get the feeling that we're just sort of stockpiling random WRs and RBs this offseason.

Jeff, thanks for your thoughts on Fantasy Brothers. I do rely on you all to let me know when you really do or do NOT like a site...I'll keep this feedback in mind in the future!

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this

2010 Week 2 consensus start/sit

Greetings and happy weekend. I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. So while these aren't my personal recommendations, I do think knowing what the consensus is could be of help when making lineup decisions...so enjoy! Note: the players are listed in no particular order. QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. Spiller, Beanie Wells, Ronnie Brown WR Start: Santana Moss, Legedu Naanee, Malcolm Floyd, Mike Williams (TB), Dez Bryant Sit: Randy Moss, Michael Crabtree TE Start: Chris Cooley, Todd Heap, John Carlson, Jermichael Finley Sit: Jermaine Gresham, Owen Daniels, Tony Scheffler, Jeremy Shockey, Bo Scaife Kicker Start: La

Start/Sit Week 4 and a smattering of rankings

It's been awhile, my fantasy football friends. I have lofty intentions of getting several posts up here each week, but life is busy and I will do my best. So in the intervening 6 years since I've posted regularly on here, our family added another child (now there are 3!), moved back to Boulder for a sabbatical year and then returned to Knoxville, and we have basically been chugging along like many of the rest of you. My two boys (who turn 12 and 9 soon) are in a fantasy football league for the first time this year with their buddies, which ostensibly is the just the dads (and mom!) playing one another of course. But my oldest is taking it super seriously and what kind of Fantasy Football Librarian would I be if I didn't step up my game for him? So I'm back - and am interested in the fantasy landscape - lots of the same awesome sites out there, but many new ones as well. I'll try to incorporate a mix. Please be sure to let me know if my 2006 ways aren't working i
