Get your tiers, get your cheat sheets, get your rankings...

My Bruno Boys online draft with a few of the big dogs in the FF world continues. I drafted #1 overall and so far my team includes:
LaDainian Tomlinson, 1.01
Chad Johnson, 2.12
Peyton Manning, 3.01
Calvin Johnson, 4.12
Selvin Young, 5.01
Jonathan Stewart, 6.12
Chris Johnson, 7.01

Thoughts? How am I doing? Yup, I'm taking a risk with Young and the rookie platter of Stewart and Johnson, but I feel like right when Young might be at risk of having Hall swoop in on his carries, Stewart and Johnson will be at the point of dominating their backfields. We'll see how that plays out but I start 2 RBs and 3 WRs in this league so I need to flesh out my WRs a bit more.

Depending on Tropical Storm/Hurricane Fay and her fury on Internet access, I may have a draft tomorrow, too, where I will be drafting from the 6th spot. So I've got lots of tiering and rankings and projections on the I know so many of you do, too.
  • Advanced NFL Stats deviates from their norm to provide some fantasy football insight. Check out Fantasy Draft Strategy (part 1) for some thoughts on the consistency of positions year after year and how that might affect your drafting strategies. Part 2 of this analysis is forthcoming and will spell out a strategy "that will give you a big advantage in your league's draft"...that's always desirable, no? So I'll be sure to get a link up to part 2 when the time comes.
  • The Bruno Boys have posted their Top 150 Cheat Sheet. The scoring system for this list is at the bottom but it's a 4 pts/passing TD and I believe non-PPR. I included this ranking (or at least the top 100 guys) in the latest update to my average ranking positions.
  • The Goat is a non-stop sleeper machine - he's posted about lots of players that could be nice value picks this draft season so take a look at 2008 Fantasy Football Sleepers and Value Picks Volume 3 before you draft.
  • Finally, if you want more tiering, I definitely recommend checking out FFToday's Cheat Sheets - good stuff there. Here's the QB & RB sheet, WR & TE sheet and the K &D/ST an IDP sheet. Love it.

your draft is looking great so far...

I love the team up to Stewart. If this is a keeper league, your Stewart and Johnson picks are great, but you are going to be hurting at WR seeing you start 3. I would have bypassed one of those two to get another WR...
Thanks anon, I debated that exact issue for a long time today. Decided to be bold and go with 2 RBs and we'll see how that plays out...mid-season I might be regretting it but WRs like Berrian and Santana Moss just weren't looking all that appealing. Thanks for the input - I'll probably be posting the rest of my roster before long...

I think this looks like one of the best drafts I have seen. I know you went 1st, but getting Peyton in the 3rd round and Johnson in the 4th with the way he looks right now seem like absolute steals.

Do you really like FFToday's rankings? I used them to draft last year, and got really poor results. Some of it was bad luck (I would have probably done better if I had a different position in the draft), but I am reluctant to trust them again.

I think you are looking great, I agree with you on Berrian and Moss, I think you will see that Calvin Johnson will be a top 5 receiver this year. Some late round guys that I think will be great WR3's are the Saint's Meachum, Bronco's Royal, and Redskins Randle El, also take a look at who shapes up to be solid #2 behind Burress on the Giants. Chris Johnson I think is a great pick as well, I think he may end up being everything Reggie Bush was supposed to be, Good Luck!

Nice draft so far, it actually looks similar to how I would draft. I personally would have probably snagged K2 with the 6th pick instead of another RB. Still very nice so far.

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this

2010 Week 2 consensus start/sit

Greetings and happy weekend. I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. So while these aren't my personal recommendations, I do think knowing what the consensus is could be of help when making lineup enjoy! Note: the players are listed in no particular order. QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. Start/Sit Week 4 and a smattering of rankings

It's been awhile, my fantasy football friends. I have lofty intentions of getting several posts up here each week, but life is busy and I will do my best. So in the intervening 6 years since I've posted regularly on here, our family added another child (now there are 3!), moved back to Boulder for a sabbatical year and then returned to Knoxville, and we have basically been chugging along like many of the rest of you. My two boys (who turn 12 and 9 soon) are in a fantasy football league for the first time this year with their buddies, which ostensibly is the just the dads (and mom!) playing one another of course. But my oldest is taking it super seriously and what kind of Fantasy Football Librarian would I be if I didn't step up my game for him? So I'm back - and am interested in the fantasy landscape - lots of the same awesome sites out there, but many new ones as well. I'll try to incorporate a mix. Please be sure to let me know if my 2006 ways aren't working i
