Double post day

Well my husband is off at a conference and my sister is froufing around in Cali for a wedding - that means the quantity of friends I have in the city has just been reduced by about 50% - which frankly benefits you all since I'm hanging out writing another post tonight. I know, I need to get more friends. Funny how hard making friends can be when you work from home on fantasy football and basically hang out with cats all day (they're adorable cats, but still, they don't talk back)...all kidding aside though, it's kind of nice to have a quiet weekend after we had so many folks in town for the marathon last weekend.
Anyway, a quick housekeeping note first before I get into the rest of tonight's post. So I've updated the 1st Annual FFLibrarian Readers' Choice survey - despite my efforts to be as thorough as possible, I missed a few sites that I feel belong in the survey. Plus some of the additions are sites that have seen a massive number of write-in votes, too. So if you feel this invalidates the survey, my apologies, but we're talking fantasy football here not neuroscience. You've got all month to vote and many thanks to those who have already done so!

Now onto my big winners in the 96-team FFLibrarian league...these are the top 5 scorers across all 6 conferences:
  1. BIG DUKE - 128.20 points
  2. Bookie - 127.80
  3. Vick's Cellmates - 123.70
  4. Skins North - 121.85
  5. Poopship Destroyers - 121.75
And the winners of my two weekly contests with 365FantasySports.com are WIguyinMN (see winning roster in image below) in the freeroll "pick 2" contest and mscogle in the points cap contest. Nicely done! I should point out that WIguyinMN came in 2nd in the points cap game, too, so he's clearly a dude to be reckoned with...and apparently I need to start taking these contests a bit more seriously. Play against me this week using password book9 and see if you can beat me! While you're at it, join the Commish Chick's weekly league for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate.

Okay finally time for some links:

Thanks for the tip on Fantasyxpert.com. I was pleasantly surprised when my site, www.fantasy-football-first.com was one of the top 3 for accurate waiver wire advice. cool site.

Didn't get a chance to drop by before, but I wanted to thank you for including the roundtable post in your links. I guess we were channeling the same fantasy football muse with our chosen topic.

A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha...

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this...

Guest post: WRs with a stellar SOS

Greetings, FFers and welcome to the start of a long weekend. To celebrate I have two posts for you today. Later in the day I'll have some links to get you through the weekend but first up, I thought I'd post a little something new to FFLibrarian. This summer I'll be rolling out a series of articles from Cris who has his own site that I've linked to several times since last fall - it's definitely a bit of a departure from my usual linking here on FFLibrarian so I'd love your feedback. Feel free to leave comments for either Cris or me in the comments section or via e-mail . Below you'll see an excerpt from his recommendations for wide receivers that you might want to consider based on a strength of schedule (SOS) that is his combination of fantasy points against, average draft position, and yards per attempt. Note the special emphasis here on the fantasy playoffs, Weeks 14-16. If you'd like to read the rest of Cris' rankings for team wide receivers,...
